Are these folks still club sponsors/supporters? I need to get an alignment done for the corvette. I saw in some thread I found searching the forum that the THSCC discount would get you a 4 wheel alignment for $58. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Will they do non-factory spec alignments? Are there any other club sponsor/supporters that will do non-factory spec. alignments?

MM Autoworks still does a club discount, I'm pretty sure Kevin marks things off at a 10% discount no matter what, but that isn't likely to get you a custom alignment for $58.

Give Kevin a call and let him know what you want. He'll probably be able to give you a ballpark price, but any specialty alignment shop is going to charge by the hour if you want something other than stock.

Kevin is happy to align to your specs (and share his experiences, etc).

From what I've seen, Kevin will try to get whatever spec you want and can attain. The $58 seems low, though.

I thought the $58 sounded low as well. Maybe I read it wrong. I am not really as concerned about that. I don't mind paying more as long as it isn't real excessive and the are willing to do a custom alignment. I assume somewhere around $100 would be more in the ballpark? I guess it will all depend on how long it takes since they bill hourly.

Anyhow thanks for the quick responses. I'll try to give Kevin a call and have it done prior to the first event.

Kevin does great work. He as a top of the line Hunter alignment rack. You can plan on spending $100. It took almost 2hrs to do my car last year. But... I had him pull all the shims in the front and loosen everything. Then adjust to get max negative camber without throwing castor out the window. He got more negative camber out of the front end than any shop has gotten on my car. And I still had a good amount of castor.

The rear end is easy to get camber. So that went quick. We also set toe on both ends. So it was time consuming. If I keep it and take it back this year it would probably only take an hour to make a small adjustment since the setup is very good.

I don't know what settings you are thinking about but the Advanced Street setup that VB&P has works well on my C4. But it wasn't enough. I'm actually further out on the camber than they have. But toe is close.

What settings are you thinking of?

Graham if you come across anything that Doug Rippie has published let me know. I haven't seen anything. If they do have something published it would be interesting to compare to VBP.

As it stands now I plan on doing something along the lines of the VBP advanced street settings. Since I drive the car daily I think the full autocross settings might be to much. The only thing I plan to do differently is more camber if I can get it. They only call for -.25 F and -.5 rear. Most of the guys on Corvette Forum seem to think -1.5 F and -1.0 rear is a good street/auto-x..track compromise. I think most of those guys might have the hardbar or some other type of camber kit though. I doubt I can get that much camber without one of those kits. I am fairly certain those kits aren't stock legal either which I don't want.

I am thinking something along the lines of:

Front 0 toe, as much camber as I can get and 6-7 degrees positive caster

Rear 1/8" toe in, as much camber as I can get

These setting seem okay to you?

Yes that is what I would do. 0 toe front. I've got about 1/32 toe out. I did have 1/8 toe out (total). That helps turn in but it scrubs the tires all the time. Sitck with 0. Getting a C4 to -1.2 - -1.4 in the front is as good as it gets. Don't go past -1.5.

In the rear do not go for all the camber you can get. Once you loosen those camber bolts and let the car squat you'll find you can get -2.5 or more. It is too much. I'm at -1.8 and it needs to come in. Closer to -1.0 would be good on a C5. 1/8 toe-in total is a really good setting.

With those numbers you can have fun at autox and still daily drive the car. It won't wander or tramline on the highway. Flip your street tires across the rims twice a year to offset any inside edge wear from the camber.

All those tricks with the suspension are illegal in stock class. They are documented though if you ever wanted to build a prepared class car. Just enjoy your car like it is. The alignment will make a difference.

I had Kevin do the aligment on the Del Sol he set it o my specs and even mades some marks for me so I can change the rear to to cerian degress, with tax this cost me about $65 a little more than I used to pay sturdivants but a heck of a lot closer to where I work and live.
