So on the way to work this morning, I'm exiting 540 to 70 W. and the detector starts going ape shit with a tone I hadn't heard before. I lift (wasn't sincerely speeding anyhow) and get my eyes on the display and it spells L A S E R.
I think the source was further up 540 (west bound) since I never saw a car or anything else.
So was this a glitch? Or did NC troopers up the ante? Anyone know?
That's a good question. I've never had my laser alarm go off on my V1 except by some over-the-highway info signs on I-77 in WV.
BTW, I was up there for turkey day (I-77 in WV) and noticed something strange. They had those speed display signs on the side of the road. You know the ones that make you speed up to see how high the numbers will go?
Well typically those have the constant-on X-band radar that even a cheap RD can pickup from a good distance. Well as I approached my V1 never gave a peep, but the display did change to my speed since I was the fastest car at the time.
Anyone seen these before? How was my speed detected?
