One thing I loved right away when I moved down here from NH is the awesome personalized plates people had! Up there, personalized plates were limited to 6 characters and could include only letters, numbers, and I think the characters +, -, and &. Down here there's so much more possibility!

What are some of y'all's favorites?

To get things started, here are 2 that have caught my eye in the last few weeks:

LX&R
IJKMNOP

If you want a hint, they're both people's names. If you want to know the translations (or, at least, what I think they are), send me an email.

I had a few of them myself. I use to get a new every year (Kent Young still does) but I stopped in '94 when someone stole mine. Here's a few I've had on my cars......

1 BAD TK (my first plate on my first truck)

FLY BY U (too many people wanted to race...got rid of it)

SQUAL 'EM (uh what was I thinking?)

XCELR8ED (sounded cool at the time)

BDURNFINO
(my personal favorite...figure it out)

GOT 2 GLO (when Neon was first popular...this plate was stolen)

GR82BNAZ (the plate currently on my Z-24...nobody ever figured it out)

Here's a few I've seen that I really like.....

68&IOU1 (if you don't know don't ask....how did this get by the DMV?)

0260N3.9 (on a Buick GNX....pretty cool)

I8AHONDA (a V8 guy who liked to race imports I'd guess)

I need to get myself a new one I just haven't got around to it. Stay tuned.

My favorite belongs to the wife of a (former?) club member. See if you can guess the car it was on:

SATBCYDR

Others I've seen:

ILIAD (on a Honda Odyssey, of course)
/DEV/TRK (for all the Unix geeks out there)

I used to keep a list on my white-board at work of all the vanity plates I'd seen, but the list got too long to use the board for anything else....

Jon K.

P.S. SATBCYDR was, of course, on the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder (think Little Miss Muffet) owned by Mike Strohmeyer's wife.

On my Corvette - I SAY EH (i really need to get this plate on the M3).

A (rather dorky) friend of mine: /MNT/ME

One I saw at the track one time: NVR LFT

On an E46 M3 somewhere: ///MINE

A fellow expatriot - I M CDN

Not really a personallized plate, but quite possibly the BEST racing team shirts ever:

"My Drinking Team has a Racing problem."

Naturally, sported by a Canadian based team. :-D

I heard a story of a guy whose plate said MISSING. Said he got hundreds of parking tickets in the mail for other cars with missing plates.

Aw, man, and here I thought I'd seen the ultimate vanity plate! This one's now the second-best. When this guy found out that he could use 8 letters on his vanity plate, he took that statement literally! The plate reads, of course

8LETTERS
