anyone have an impact wrench and portable compressor that could help me out with a bolt.. either need to borrow the tank and wrench for a few minutes to break this bolt free or if someone would be willing to come break it free for me i'll do beer compensation etc.. an electric impact wrench might work as well.. not sure how much torque they can produce but i think the spec on this bolt is 150ft/lbs or so..

For that kind of torque and electric won't work. Neither will most portable compressors, let a lone an air tank, do the job. If you can drive the car then I can do it here if not then good luck, crank bolts can really sux

thanks for the offer.. cant drive it though.. cross member, oil pan, water pump are all already off.. think i may try the breaker bar on the bolt and crank the engine over method.. that just makes me weary..

Be sure you're turning it the right way, some are reverse threaded.

Reinstallation should be easy. Simply put the trans in gear and torque per specs.

if that was the case the getting it off wouldnt have been a problem for me.. 150ft/lbs i could probably break free with a breaker bar and and a big f-ing wrench.. the problem i had was it was still turning the crank... pretty sure the clutch is toast and its slipping parked :x

Hmmm. Nothing is ever simple. I was assuming the problem was very high "break away" torque for removal due to corrosion and/or threadlocker. If the clutch is toast, how about replacing it before you install the crank pulley? Or use a tool to hold the ring gear/flywheel? 150 lbs is more than any torque I've needed for an engine on a stand so I don't know how "good" a tool it would take for your situation. A BIG screw driver wedged in the ring gear or between flywheel bolts was good enough for my situations. Assuming there is a version of the engine used with an automatic trans, I suspect some sort of tool is available.
