Anyone get their degree online? I'm considering this option depending on where my next job is located. I'm concerned that getting a degree from one of these schools and finding out that it doesn't hold the same value as if I went to a local college or university. Any opinions?

BTW, I have zero college (unless you count watching sports on campus), but I do have ten years of software development experience and six years of military experience that I hope will transfer into a few credit hours.

Phil... who still needs a job!!!

Phil,

I dont know exactly what field your looking into, but East Carolina University has a OUTSTANDING online education program in many areas. This is the "new" hot thing with ECU. They have ALOT of classes that can be taken online for FULL credit. Plus, you get the same degree as everyone else without venturing to campus. I am contemplating getting my masters online at ECU (even though I live in Greenville), I just need to find the motivation  . Check 'em out www.ecu.edu GO PIRATES!!

You should also check into the Distance Education program at NCSU. Not sure what degree you're thinking about, but I understand that program is good. I'd avoid places that are "online only" in favor of places that are well established schools that happen to have remote instruction. Well, I guess that leaves out the aforementioned ECU. ;-)

Ducking for cover...

Do we need to carry the goal posts thru downtown Raleigh again??? Do you guys need to come back to Greenville and tote home an ass wooping AGAIN? The ride back to the farm from Charlotte is gonna be a long one this November...

I figured you Pack backers would have learned by now ECU>MOO U

I think I read somewhere that NCSU put in those new hydraulic goal posts so they can lower them before the fans get to them.
Or at least, that's the plan.

there's plenty of online places that will print out a nice diploma, provide transcripts (you pick the grades), etc. Just saw a nice ad on Dateline for them.

Might be a cheaper option for you.

Best shirt I ever saw at the off campus bookstore in Greenville:

Pirates will always figure out a way to overcome adversity. Those goal posts still would be in danger if State had the balls to play ECU in Raleigh! Even if the Pirates go 1 - 11 again this year, if that win comes against NCSU, that still counts as a winning season!!!!

GO PIRATES!!!!!!!

I seem to remember my brother in law (Army) saying that there was a college that offered online education to Military. YOu may want to check and see if there are any military programs for veterans that allow for Continuing ed.

I took a ton of classes online through NCSU!! They also have videotape classes where you only have to go on campus to take a final exam. I did finish by going on to campus, but from what I understand if you finish via distance edu. it is the same diplaoma as on campus students! HTH
