OK folks, it's on. We have the whole day of August 7, and if there is sufficient interest, Jeff said the dyno would be available Friday afternoon as well.

Here's the rundown on how it works:

Cost: $600 per day up to 16 cars, $20 per car if we exceed 16.

Time: 8:00 to 5:00 with an hour for lunch. Simple math tells us that means 1 car every 30 minutes. I know for a fact that we can do more than that if it is a baseline run. It takes nearly 10 minutes to strap a car to the rollers.

Definitions:

Baseline run: The car is strapped onto the rollers and you do 2-3 pulls to see what power you are making, check air-fuel ratio's, etc. Typically there is time for *brief* tuning, that typically involves changing timing, or a few basic adjustments with an S-AFC type fuel controller.

Tuning runs: This would be for really dialing in an ECU or carburator jets (yeh, I still have carbs). You need to book more time for tuning runs, possibly making fuel pressure changes (EFI), etc. The car stays strapped to the dyno while you make the changes, so you are paying for some "down" time.

Notice I reserved two spots, well, I know it takes a good 25-30 minutes for me to change out the chokes on my carbs, so there is no reason for me to stay on the dyno while I do that.

Payment:

In one week, based on the schedule I will announce a price. In the mean time, I'm going to ask for a $20 deposit to hold your spot (PayPal to celica73@earthlink.net, or pay me in person/mail a check). If you can't make it, then sell your spot to someone else. This should avoid the massive flux and uncertainty that I saw last time I did this. I'm the one who will be writing the $600+ check to Jeff at the end of the day.

So, here's the schedule, I'll fill in the blanks as people sign up. Feel free to negotiate time trades with people (for example, I plan to be there all day, so I can take my runs whenever).

Friday????

11:20-11:40= Vincent Keene a "woman's" car
11:40-12:00= Stephen Westerfield '89 Sentra Rallycross special
12:00-1:00= Lunch

3:00-3:20= Stephen Westerfield '91 Integra
3:20-3:40= Michael Westerfield '95 Prelude
3:40-4:00=Les Davis Miata

Other notes:

If we coordinate lunch (order pizza, bring a grill, etc), then we might be able to run a few extra cars. Last time we just closed the shop and went out for fast food.

Last time Jim F. was nice enough to bring his scales out and run them for the the day. He was compensated with free dyno time. I'd love to get someone with scales out there again. Jim: If several of us get together to build ramps to go with your scales, would that be good payment for services rendered?

Cash is fine. I trust people, I'll sign you up and allow a few days to put the deposit down.

I just need people to be sure they are coming, none of this signing up to hold a spot, only to find out that it really is going to take all day to dig a stump out, instead of 3 hours.

We have enough people that I'm closing registration for the dyno day. Any additional people can be added to a waiting list.

So far, I don't have any cancellations.

If everyone that is registered shows up then it will work out to $35 per 20 minute time slot (a great deal for dyno time). I've left a amall fudge factor in there to cover one or two cancellations, and if everyone shows up, then it covers a tip for Jeff, since he will be working his ass off!

I talked with Jeff and will be changing my appointment from Saturday am to Friday afternoon, so if anyone wants the 9:40 slot, it is now available.

If you prefer an afternoon slot you can take Sally's 1 to 1:20 and I'll move her to the morning.

A few notes about the upcoming event on Saturday.

1) The car needs to be strapped down, that means two points in front and two in the rear. You need to know the proper way to secure your car (otherwise we waste a lot of time head-scratching figuring out how to do it).

2) I guess I wasn't clear on the cost in the original post. It's $600 for 8 hours or 16 cars (whicher comes first). Additional cars are billed at $20 each (but that $20 gets spread over all time slots).

I'm planning to order some pizza for lunch, in case you have one of the mid day time slots.

Hey Scott if you can still swap Sally to the 9:40 spot I'll take the 1-1:20

Oh yeah it will be in the new "daily driver" 04.5 VW 1.8T GLI. Its stock, really, no really

Scott, Les Davis and I are switching slots.

I am doing a transmission swap in the morning on Saturday. I will try my hardest to get over to the shop ASAP, but there is some possibility I might not make my spot. If it looks like I won't make it, I will call the shop ahead of time and let you know.
