I'm looking for more and cheaper than what I have now. Any options?

Just need 500+ MB (1 GB would be nice), a few email forwarding accounts, and FTP access. Other neat features would be nice but not necessary. Unix, Linux, or Windows would be fine.

Under $10 a month would be great. I found this place which looks good:

http://www.ipowerweb.com/products/webhosting/index.html

Any other options?

Mike,

My brother and I use http://www.invisionpower.com/ for our forums. I know that they also do web site hosting but I'm not sure about pricing.

VERY BAD. That's where this forum is hosted, and you've seen the downtime that we have sometimes. Their customer service is also very poor.

Do you need 500MB of space or bandwith?

I get 2GB bandwidth and 250MB of space for $8.95 a month with http://www.neureal.com

Never gone down once, and they have great customer service.

I have tomhoppe.com and section2tickets.com there.

Another problem with Neureal is that many office networks block all content from neureal hosts. Apparently the company hosts a lot of <ahem> inappropriate for work </ahem> content.

I've used shults.com (the company that used to host SCCA.com) in the past as they had a special $50 per year deal for SCCA members and regions. I think that deal is gone now that the club went to their ugly new design. (scca that is, not Tarheel. Our design is fine.)

Edit: Mike, have you considered getting a static IP address and just setting up a server at home? It'll be a bit slow though. IIRC BellSouth was offering static IP's for their DSL service at $50 per year.

Edit 2: Neureal is down for me at the moment Tom -- your avatar is gone from here. Thanks to the paranoid IT rules I can't trace the problem as all outbound ICMP is blocked from my office. Grr.

Ditto.

You gain control (configure server how you want, use whatever software you want, as big as drive as you want, etc.) but you loose other stuff that you usually/should get with a good provider (server in more secure location, redundent net connections, redundent power, etc.)

I am running my own server at home with Static IP via Verizon DSL/Britsys
