Don't really want to post on social media or FB right now, but I did want to let friends know I'm heading off to Germany again for a few weeks. No "ring" adventures this time, but will be going to Berlin, the north sea, Munich for the BMW factory tour and museum and then finally Austria. 15 days abroad, all I can say is thank you compression bags for allowing me to take cloths for 2 weeks.

We'll be seeing my uncle Dieter in Berlin for a few days and then off to the north sea for my cousins wedding anniversary, so that should be interesting. I imagine the waters pretty chilly, but I'll at least stick my feet in it to say I've been there =). From there back to Berlin for a day and then a drive down to Munich for some tours and as mentioned the BMW stuff. Just wished I was going over to pick up my M2, but the funds just ain't there...

From there a day trip down to Austria and then driving back to Berlin. My mom did decide to step it up on the rental, so we have a nice E class Merc rented for the trips, that should be nice, a true autobahn barnstormer. After all that we hang out a few days back in Berlin to kick back and pick up a river cruise for a day. From there fly back and tell Germany good-bye as I doubt I'll ever go back again, I just hate flying and all the TSA BS. Sucks all the fun out of flying.

I'll post up as I can if I come across anything interesting....

later!

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Funny you should mention that. I am going to look while I'm there.

Did you make it to Stuttgart last time, I can't recall? If not, the Porsche factory tour and especially the museum are well worth the trip, and it's not too far from where you'll be. The BMW museum is pretty decent, especially the engine rooms (I'm going on 2010 recall though). Funny, the very first thing I thought of seeing your post was not to get locked into a stairwell -- that lesson was learned by many through you Rodney, thanks actually! :)

I agree with you about not posting these thing on FB. We did not post anything about our trip in Germany last June. I went for training again and this time Kathy and Audrey came with me. We took some days before and after. I went to see a Historic Hill climb in Alsace. We went to Venice, Florence, Pisa, Chamonix, and ended up in Paris. The security in these tourist place is really up you see Police and military personals on street corner. We had a good trip.
I wish you a good and safe trip.

So I'm in Jersey with a 5 hour layover. Airport food is damn expensive, $75 for lunch. Oh well. As for the stairwell, plan on staying away from any I find =)

Go here if you're anywhere nearby, you won't regret it.

It's sort of between Mannheim and Stuttgart. It's been a few years since we were there, but it was awesome.

Also, I hate you..... :stick:

Wow, that looks interesting, but I don't think we'll be near that area.

so, first full day in Germany and I think we're in sync with the time change. It helped to stay up as long as we could and get a good nights sleep. So 2 things that bug me so far, no wash clothes and no top sheet for the bed, just that heavy comforter. Makes no sense.... We did bring wash clothes for the hotels, but everywhere I've been so far uses these comforters.

A minor issue at my uncles house is there is no AC or forced air. I miss the noise for sleeping, way too quiet. Fortunately, the house is well built and it stays cool. Have to say there's very few bugs and the humidity is low, so it's at least comfortable in the evening.

I'll take a few pics and post as I can on the THSCC FB site, it's my easiest option for posting pics. Internet here is slow and uploading a 6meg pics takes a few minutes... Today is just a down day, but heading to a museum in Berlin for something to do.

My aunt Helga loves to cook, so I stay stuffed. So much for any thoughts of loosing weight. Lasts nights meal was steaks, bacon wrapped shrimp, pork belly, salad and beans along with a few beers. Breakfast is interesting, traditionally hard rolls, cheeses, deli meats jelly. Watch out scales....

More to come....

That's a duvet, it's fairly par for the course in Europe. The cover is removable for washing.

planes, trains, automobiles and a bus. So we went to the Pergamon museum today. Took the elevated S Bahn train to the center of Berlin. Parking is atrocious around here so this was the easier option, but some Intersting people on the train.

After the muesum, over to an open air market and restaurants. Food and beer again. I'm seeing a trend on beer drinking here =)
