Since I got the Miata to track and autocross in, I really had no need for a car that cost 1k+ to put tires on and ate 93 octane gas pretty quickly and had expensive oil changes, etc. Plus I have a 30 mile one way commute 5 days a week and along with various other trips put quite a few miles on so the gas savings was actually fairly notable.

Ford was running some pretty good deals on 2015 Ecoboost Focus's so I wound up picking one up. Mainly because they were all manuals since you couldn't buy or order a 2015 ecoboost focus with a automatic.

The 1.0L 3 banger isn't very powerful but as a commuter car it does great, there's no downshifting required when cruising down the highway and i'm averaging about 38-39mpg back and forth to work.

Overall i'm pretty happy with it as a commuter and the suspension is actually pretty good, well damped and the steering is quick and just overall still some fun to drive.

I do intend to bring it to an autocross once or twice just for fun, but i'm not going to spend money on tires, so we'll see how well some 500TW all seasons do, lol.

You also don't need to check it at the airport; it fits quite nicely in your carry on.

I read the title of the thread and thought something had gone wrong with the new miata engine already!

Here's one pic I have on hand. It's got the full body styling kit as you can see which was part of the SE EcoBoost package, I thought it improved the looks over a base model by a huge amount. I'm secretly hoping somebody makes some springs for the new models so I can get rid of a bit of the fender gap, lol.

It would be pretty hefty carrying that chunk of iron around though, lol.

I really like it and would love to replace the Subaru with one. Only thing holding me up is no one else in the house wants to drive a stick and, oh yeah, I got two kids in college. Grrrr!

Sweet ride!

Supposedly the 2016 ecoboost will be offered in an automatic. Based on the class action suits though involve the fiesta and focus automatic issues, it might not be wise to buy one in a auto, lol.

I drove a 3-cyl turbo diesel Kia in Belgium for a couple of weeks and loved it. It got around 60 MPG. I'd buy one if they sold them here. I think it retailed for about $12K.
