Went and picked up my entry stuff for the show this weekend. I hope you plan on attending. While I was there, saw some serious american iron and rods come rolling through. This would be well worth your time to go see this show this weekend....

Matthew and I will be going. Not sure when, he has a track meet Saturday am at Cary Academy. Matthew is super interested finding an older 75-back truck for his first vehicle.

In the 20 min I was there picking up my tickets, saw some serious old trucks. If you want him excited, bring him over....

I assume there are vendor areas there. In the future is this a place we should have a promotional stand about our club if we are worried about declining membership?

Based on the number of new member apps at the last club meeting declining membership doesn't seem to be too major of an issue.

I'll be there to promote the club as the mustang will be wearing all its go fast magnets. Also found out I can do the autox every day, not just Sunday. Still pimping the car as I write so I can be ready tomorrow. I'll have some of my home made biz cards to hand out as well....

Actually, the show was great. As for rain, they moved the closing "ceremonies" up to noon on Sunday from 2:30. Sunday's turnout was very light. Saturday was rocking. TONS of cars. Everything from true ratrods to some absolute knockout customs. Great cross section of cars.

As for the autox, I never did get to chase anyone down, folks working the grid were just working the grid. Probably need to contact the goodguys folks direct for help. They used the lot up on the corner at near Trinity and Blue Ridge, not very big but workable. There was 1 light pole that I didn't like position-wise that was right at the finish. Would have been very easy to rotate the car and smack it, but fortunately no incidents. Also saw Mike, Wally and a few other folks up at the autox. I can't say that I did very well, course just didn't suit my car. Most drivers did the course in 1st. I tried and simply ran out of steam and banged the rev limiter. I drive in 2nd and then I'm hampered by the low speed 180 and not a ton of power coming out of the turn. A 2-1-2 shift just didn't work, for the short distance I had. All that said I still had fun. There was some serious old muscle on the course w/ very good drivers.

I must admit I met some of the nicest people there. Hell, I even had interest in lowly bullitt, but I'll admin I had the only one there. Goodguys confirmed they will be back next year, so I'm going. Had a great time....

Will the Mustang let you do a 2-1-2 shift at speed? The Camaro won't go into first at all unless your moving very slowly or stopped, I think it even says in the owners manual not to downshift to first at speed.

so a couple of quick videos from the show this weekend. The first video is where I left my infield parking spot and drove up to the autox. You can see a nice sampling of cars via the camera.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTQIkHF ... e=youtu.be

This next video is of the course and one of my runs. You can see some of the cars that were running. There's a burgundy Buick that rolls in front of the camera. This beast was cool w/ a full custom suspension. You'll also see a white '71 chevelle frame left. This guy was running an inline 6 diesel. Was a little weird hearing it on course. I think they did OK w/ the room they had. This was a low 40sec course, but no room for 2 cars on course, so overlap was an issue.

I did hand out about 4 biz cards to some of the local drivers, so maybe, just maybe, we'll see some new faces...
