I ran across this link today via a Facebook prototype racing group I visit (I also see Rob Keehner posting there occasionally). I thought it was an interesting article. Anyone here doing any of the iRacing endurance racing?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

We use it for test/prep, but actual "competition" racing... I don't see how sitting in front of a TV, driving a virtual car, lap after lap, for hours and hours, is "fun". I do it in real life for the physical and mental challenge, and the joy of building a car that can.

(yes, they blow up a lot, too. that's not fun. 'tho there have been two I was happy to see end -- one just never would completely die (30% leak and still running), the other was built the morning of an HPDE and never should've worked; it lasted almost an entire lemons race until it slapped the skirts off the pistons, one (or more) of them got sideways...)
