I had posted where was a good place to obtain a concealed carry permit, but I don't think that post stayed up for more than an hour before it was deleted...

While his politics are totally fucked Molotov Mitchell runs a really good CCH course.

http://trianglekravmaga.com/firearms/co ... un-permit/

Discounts come up often on Groupon. It's been a few years, but the shooting portion used to be done in Garner so even though the class is in Durham you'll end up back in Wake county.

From what I understand, you can also get an out of state carry license from Arizona, which is recognized by NC. It doesn't require that you sit in an 8hr class. The only problem is that it can't be used to purchase pistols here. And if you caught with it, not all police officers are aware that it's accepted here. So you may have some teaching to do.

I think Virgina does the same thing, friend at work took it. On line class and no gun range practice. I think for me I'd rather go to the class....

It's a very good idea to take the class. There are some gotchas to the self defense laws in NC.

I moved these posts out of Mike's thread.

Rodney, did you confirm that this post made it through to the server? ie did you click submit and walk away, or did you actually see it posted in the forum? Zach and I have looked through the moderator log and we dont see where one of your posts have been deleted? It is possible that the deletion wasn't recorded in the log. But I'm hoping that the post just never made it to the database to begin with?

That is completely possible, but I thought I had submitted the post.

There have been a few issues recently with connections to the server. You could've submitted the post and the connection just wasn't established correctly.

There are other possibilities for what could've happened as well. I think, in this case, that your post was inadvertently "lost" due to a server issue and hopefully not moderated.

And here I was thinking that this thread was about getting some sweet new wheels....

Still interested, carry on!

so getting this back on track so to speak.... My initial comment was to ask about a concealed carry class, primarily to be able to purchase a target pistol. So I've found this...

http://www.wakegov.com/sheriff/services ... sfetc.aspx

class offered by Wake Co sheriff and the class is cheap, $80. Down side is they only offer this once a month. They have a class next week, but you have to fill out their form and mail in payment. That's an antiquated way to register, but it is Wake co. The next class is on Dec 21st, but that might be cold at the range, assuming it's outside. I need to check on that. That's also pretty close to Christmas, so I don't see that one working for me either. The 2015 schedule isn't out yet.

So.....I'm still looking at possible options for a weekend class. If anyone wants to join me would be very cool... I see where Milko posted about Molotov Mitchell. Gotta love the name! Need to look into that one. Any other options?

Speak of the devil. $60 for the class. Looks like they have it in Cary now instead of Durham.

Also the shooting portion of the test can be done with any handgun. Get your hands on someone's .22 if you're worried about your shooting ability.

I looked and I can't find a schedule for the Cary location and I don't want to assume that the Durham location would have the same schedule. Need to research some more.... That's a very good price...

I was thinking 'what's counter clockwise'?? A lot of the bike trails we label on the gps are designated CCW.

Sorry, carry on... Guns & ammo... Personally, I'd love to visit a shooting range for the first time. Sounds like fun.

I think it's because it's original title had the words "trophy" and "girl" in it.

Rodney, Matt,

If you guys want to go the range sometime I'd be happy to let you shoot my guns, if you buy the ammo :D :D :D I've got a couple of different .22's and 9mm

I think most official ranges will make you pass a basic safety test to get a "range" card. I've got a card for the range off of Tryon road but I haven't been there for a year or more. Let me know.

Shawn
