now this thread too all remind us that it's silly to try and not alienate a group of people we've historically had problems turning into members/participants.

I'm not clear what you're saying here. Who are you justifying alienating?

Let's not forget that the meetings are held on Wednesday night. Church night for many Baptist folks.

Who are we alienating James? Let's look at racing in general over the last 50 years. Are you trying to say that THSCC should become the beacon that forever changes the landscape of racing participation?

Get real dude.

Don't put words in my mouth and to be honest I'm not sure why I care at all. I didn't post the pictures, ask for them to be removed or remove them in the most inflammatory way possible.

Everyone learned stuff about everyone else and I hope the leadership took the lesson that they need to be more diplomatic in the future to prevent giant shitstorms. Can we just stop bringing it up at every possible opportunity so we can actually have some kind of productive discussion in these forums again without everything eventually decaying into an argument about generators and awnings on the autocross bus?

You're kinda new around here ain't ya???

These types of discussions are the backbone of this forum, and like every other long standing tradition of THSCC from days gone by, on the chopping block by the current "powers that be".

Lest we forget...................... "We aren't that kind of Club anymore"

Try this James. Next time you are at an AutoX mention my name in casual conversation. If you hear "what is that guy's problem?" you should have your answer. 8)

It's been a year since I've been to one and it's unlikely I'll be to one next year. I was going to try and make the November one since there were some people going that I haven't seen in a while as well as some co-workers. But with rain in the forcast, no way. I can try it at a track event but I'd likely be asking VK or Bernie.

It may be hard for you to believe but I do like you Remchak. I defend you in person to people, but you're kinda a dick on the Internet. :v

And I would have gotten that answer before the current (now mostly previous) regime showed up anyhow. :)

I hate posting personal comments given my Admin status, but I think I can put on my regular member hat for this...

You're kinds new around here ain't ya??? Short of Bowie we are all new. And if I remember correctly the forum pre-dates you and I know the email listserver that was used before that does pre-date you.

We have had our share of bloody thread. I think however, that your style of confrontational "stick a finger in the other guys eye because you can, and mostly for kicks" is much more recent. I might be having selective memory but the early ones were on balance more motorsports focused. There were also some personal feuds as well. But overall I think there was a better balance of signal vs. noise. Right now... lots of noise and not as much signal. And attempts to generate new signal get torpedoed. The recent "Chick's school" thread for example. Funny how people decided to wear their muddy boots through that thread. :(

So don't paint the entire club or forum members with your brand of online modus operandi. And sorry for singling you out at the moment. There is a handful who like it when they smell blood in the water here. You are just top of the list of usual suspects and happen to be posting in this thread. Others don't post as much, or are not longer members and don't have access.

Richard

Best thread derail ever. TV to guns, that is.

Guys, in the interest of "protecting the club", I will be deleting the entire thread, tomorrow. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Carlton makes a good (if slightly paranoid, IMO :)) point about keeping potentially legally sensitive words out of our web content.

If you're worried about censorship and want to keep the thread up for posterity, please save a copy and delete every instance of "torrent" and "piracy" and "TV" and anything else potentially sensitive out of it before hosting it publicly.

Mike,

Thanks for the offer to delete. I just went ahead and edited out some names in your original post so that the rest of the thread and stand.

Richard

Deleting a thread about a concealed carry permit????

As best as the Admin team can tell. Nobody did this on purpose. Either it happened and we can't track how/when, Rodney's post might have failed, Aliens, something else? We have our issues, but I don't think this is one of them.
