I just realized that the only place that this event shows up is in "Club Discussion" and some of us just don't get over there that often. Now that you have been alerted to the possibility of a pleasant Sunday Drive with some entertainment value and a meal and beer at the finish party, you should mosey over to the Club Discussion and get the particulars;

By the way, I drove the course with Bowie reading the notes to make sure that the mileages were correct and that a person of average intelligence would not get totally lost and I can say that it was a pleasurable drive through the country side. A great way to spend a fall afternoon.

I also posted stickies with links to the original thread in Rallyx, Autox, and Track forums. Do you have suggestions how better to promote an event like this in the future?

I almost replied to Charlie's post the other day. I for one almost never visit individual sub-forums. It is just so much easier upon visiting the main page to click on the "View new posts" on the upper right. So it gives you a digest version of the currently active threads and it does list the sub-forum under each thread. I never dig into sub-forums to look for content.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

That was my first post and I had (still have) no idea how it works. I'm still contemplating adding Facebook as yet another time sink.

Okay, so... You would have seen the original thread, plus three more threads from each sub-forum in the digest view, right?

I'm genuinely curious how you would have promoted a club-wide event like this to everyone who visits the forum. My thinking was that many people only look in the forum for their sport, not in the Club Discussion, so that's why I cross-posted to them all. What would you have done?

You can make it a global announcement, and it shows up at the top of every forum. But it only shows up once when you click the new posts link.

There's an added benefit that you only have to make updates to one post instead of several.

Yes, the digest would show them all. I don't think there is a single right answer given how users user the forum differently. My post above was more about letting users know that shortcut which might help them find posts they might otherwise miss.
