It looks pretty good and has some numbers that indicates that it can scoot along at a brisk pace.

OK, that got my attention.... Maybe in '16 or in '18 when they come out w/ the 50th anniversary edition of the Bullitt... Never been a fan of buying 1st year model cars.

Sometimes 2nd year models can be CEL prone with only six miles on them too.

I've never been a huge Mustang fan (too much torque I guess  ) but this new style looks pretty sweet. Something about the rear sloping C-pillar/windshield lines that I like.

It does sound pretty nice. Personally i'm waiting to see the 2016 Camaro, they're moving it to the Alpha platform which the newest ATS and CTS are on now.

Hoping for some weight reduction and so far speculation says it will get the LT1 from the C7 Vette.

Crazy, I know.

Who buys a Mustang to sit in the back seat? Next you'll be telling me Vettes don't have enough cargo room.

I'm with VK.

With that said, our Challenger has a decent sized back seat. It'll comfortably sit two adults that aren't over 6' tall.

It appears that it can turn now too.Not that the old one could not,but the gt500 almost lost to a sti on top gear. You look at the times, the gt was 1 30 dead. The sti was 1 30 point 01.Wow,a rally sedan almost beat the big bad ford. That would have been unbearable at ford i am sure. Now we need ot retest it and see where it stands.Anyway,I like fifth gear personally.

Rodney's new car is going to sound like a Ferrari and is going to be awesome:

Quote:
The heart of the new GT350 is a race-derived 5.2-liter V-8 engine. Final specs haven’t yet been released, but Ford is promising that it will be the most powerful naturally-aspirated production engine it has ever built, pumping out more than 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

This new engine is unique for a production car, using what’s known as a flat-plane crankshaft, a feature common in racing cars but difficult to adapt for the street.

Or it's going to sound like two Honda's trying to rip apart the space-time continuum, but this thing is going to be nuts. 2016 is the year of IRS and a flat-plane crank on a pony car: if you told this to your childhood self, would you believe it?

So what is likely the most defining feature of the Mustang, the exhaust note, is gone?

Cynic in me says they are doing this so people buy more turbo 6s.

My understanding is that this engine is only for the GT350. It's not a replacement for the Coyote engine in the GT.

And I think it's a Turbo 4.

Wow, so far this thing looks amazing. Given what other manufacturers are doing (i.e. BMW going whole-hog into turbo motors leaving behind very high revving naturally aspirated engines), it's pretty amazing Ford is going down this path with a flat-plane V8. I guess some don't like the sound (?), but flat plane Ferrari V8s are spine tingling, gut ripping in person. Nice to see huge wheel widths, custom PSS tires, etc.

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1095495_2016-ford-mustang-shelby-gt350-packs-new-v-8-serious-track-upgrades

Is this (are cars like this one) well past the modern day performance car peak however? I still can't shake the gut feeling that we're fast approaching muscle-car-demise-number-two for some reason. It's just too good to be true...or perhaps...I'm just too old to believe it. :D

I don't get why American car companies seem to want to make their cars more European. :?

I remembered that there was a few of the GT350s having a shakedown at the 'Ring over summer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyLHStnfb9E

More than a few people speculated on the flat planeness of the exhaust note when the videos surfaced.
