Just finished watching Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. Been MANY moons since I've watched that movie. I guess it's the numerous beers this evening, but that got me to thinking about how long I've been w/ this club.

I started back in 2000 when Dishman was running the show and were meeting at Golden Coral. Who would have thought 11 years later I'd be prez. I never thought I'd would have survived this club for 14 years, but I have to say I enjoy autocross and the people I've met.

So, like I said, I've been a member for 14 years. How long have you been part of this mayhem?

BTW, where's my 5 and 10 year pin? =)

Only slightly longer. I think my first event was in Rocky Mount, summer 1999.

My first ever event was in 1995. Probably been a member since 1996.

Ran my first event in 2008 but I don't believe I became a member until 2009.

Ran first event with THSCC in '99 and joined in '99, IIRC. Moved to MD in 2004, but maintained my membership. I believe I've run at least at least one auto-x or HPDE with THSCC every year I've lived here.

My first event was "Speed Thrills" in Sanford in '03 but I probably became a member the next year.

1986. Found out about THSCC after seeing Randy Ubilious (spelling?) in a North Raleigh McD's wearing a Malibu Grand Prix T-shirt. We had just moved from California.

My first autocross ever was in 1969 or 1970 but I didn't get serious until about 1975.

I joined in '99 or '00 and moved to Charlotte in 2004. Still maintained my membership since. - AB

I joined in 1980 or '81 I think. I do not remember where was the first THSSC Auto-X I ran. I did run in the first Rocky Mount airport event.

My first auto-X was with NC State Sports Car Club in 1978.

Yes I voted against you joining the club.

At least 2002, maybe as early as 2001 (likely) or 2000 (maybe a stretch). My earliest photos (very few) are from the 2001 season. My first autocross was circa 1985-86 in WV with the Southern WV region SCCA.

I started running events in late 1986 and joined finally decided to join in Spring 1988 (after buying a and "improving" a MG Midget. My first few events were in a 1962 Corvair convertible which while fun and unusual, was not particularly competitive. Member #349 according to my membership card, but I seem to recall that my number was #457. (Neal Harrington shows up as #349 in the Nov 2010 membership listing.)
Curt Spitzner was president at the time (now SCCA Pro-Racing Rally Director) and when he left for a "higher calling" talked me into a stint at club president for a year until more energetic VPs took over....enter the Dishman era.
Pete has been being dragged to autocrosses since he was 4 (with his mom monitoring activities); by 6 he was a regular attendee at the Rocky Mount and NC Fairgrounds events. By 8 he was at most events with his RC controlled cars buzzing around the pits while I poked around the courses. I recall his first ride in the MG with his small head rattling around in a helmet that weighed more than his head. He had fun. but once was enough for that trip.

Ran with THSCC first time in 1978 I believe (sophomore at NCSU) and also with the NC State Sports Car Club, perhaps with George, in ~79-80...we used to run in the parking lot in front of the parking deck (which is now covered with a parking deck). I recall running autox events with THSCC at Old Rocky Mount airport starting in maybe 1980 (?), NC State fairgrounds, Kidds Hill Plaza (just above Crabtree Mall), and Wilson Mall. Moved away from RDU area in 1984 then back here again in 1992...didn't get back with the club until 2004 Patriot Course event and then in 2005 when Jackie wanted to learn how to autox..hence starting her down the path of addiction to cars, mechanical engineering, and now as a tire performance engineer with Michelin. :)
