I bought Milko's Borla Miata exhaust, and have tried to mount it twice, and have failed twice. It's Saturday, and the weather is perfect for working on a car, and I'm only a little hung-over.

Here's my problem. I can't extract the O2 sensor from the original exhaust. I've tried everything I know, so far, but I really don't want to pay a pro to do this, Monroe wants $150 to do this. I'd prefer to not replace the O2 sensor, but if someone can help me with the wiring harness on a Universal unit, I'd appreciate it. I know I'm rambling and probably not making much sense, but if anybody is looking for something to do today, and thinks they can help me pull this O2 Sensor out, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll check the forum here, or call or text me at 478-461-4783 if you are willing to help. I can drive the car to you, or you can come here, whatever works best. I'm in Durham near Southern HS.

Thanks,
Turner Oppy

Looks like I chose option B...

take a nap.

If anybodies got any suggestions I'd love any guidance. I've tried Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster and a micro-torch with no success. I actually broke the O2 sensor socket I bought from Harbor freight.

I think it's going to rain most of tomorrow, but if someone is hankerin' to help out I'd do my best to make time.

Thanks,
Turner

The last O2 sensor I had to take out (From my NJ born and bred F150) I broke a O2 sensor socket, and started slightly rounding it off before I gave up and gave it to the pros to change out.

A little heat from a propane torch might help. There's the possibility it's bound by rust. Heating it up expands the metals and breaks the bond. Give that a try. I had some bolts on the front suspension on the mazda that refused to come out. Between a BFH and some MAPP gas, I won the battle.

I have some crows foot wrenches that made it easy to get access to mine. You are welcome to try that out and see if it helps.

E:
I seem to remember doing mine through the hood with the crows foot wrench and a cheater pipe. I also remember bashing my hands up pretty good.

I used a butane torch to no avail. I think I'm going to have to go to a pro, and try to not get ripped off. Monroe is a big chain, so I kinda expected them to be unreasonable, but I'm hoping a local shop will help me for <$50. Not counting the PITA O2 sensor this should take ~30min if you have a lift.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I had Henry's muffler in Raleigh change one on the Bimmer that I could not get off. They charged me $20 IIRC.

If you don't have it out by Thursday and feel like driving to WF, I'm sure we can get it out in my shop.
Lemeno,

Cash
