I'm ashamed that I did not pick up on this for a good 10 hours.

I understand that the official unveiling (USA) will be on Good Morning America tomorrow (Thursday), but apparently someone got hold of a copy of the Dec 9 issue of Autoweek and started snapping pics with his cell phone.

Still can't get rid of visions of the Mustang II when I hear "Mustang" and "4cylinder engine" in the same breath. That said, it's great looking, lighter than prior generation and features a real rear suspension. What's not to like?

Why they don't put that Ecoboost drivetrain in a light convertible sportscar still has me baffled. Maybe they think it will steal Mustang sales?

Agreed! Muscle cars should have a V8 dammit! I don't care if a Turbo 2.3L can make 1000HP, I'd still want a V8. Besides the Mustang has always had a signature sound, and unless you play it through a speaker, that ain't happening with a 4-banger.

As far as the exterior styling, it seems GM, Dodge, and Ford have all been lured into that BMW signature grill crap. That's in case you didn't notice the front looks a lot like the Fusion. GM seems to be holding out on the Vette at least.

hummmm. While it's a nice looking car, it's starting to wander away from it's heritage looks again. I'll reserve final judgement for the time I can see one in person. Right now I'm not a fan...

Hmm, looks like a Mustang mounted a 370z and this was the outcome. Not saying I don't like it but looks squashed in the pictures.

Sounds like they made some positive changes. Hard to tell what it really looks like.

I don't get the "heritage" thing. Its not 1965 anymore, I'd rather Ford blaze a new trail instead of another retread.

Overall, it's a nice looking car, which is more than I can say for most new vehicles, but I see more styling from other cars in it than I do Mustang. The front looks Aston Martin and the roof it appears was lifted from the new Corvette. These are not criticisms.

That's an interesting philosophical discussion. I guess after the first 100 years of automobile manufacturing we as a collective people got bored. I mean how many forms can an automobile take? The went from purely form follows function of the horseless carriage to pure exercises in design/art/whatever the fins of the 50's were. I think the retro thing is popular as it hearkens people back to "the good old days"

Cars grab our emotions and lusts or they would all look the same like refrigerators.

It seems most current mustang owners are not happy with the new design. I think it's a nice looking car, but there's a lot of European influence in it, which I think is a bad move to make with the Mustang. The mustang was one of the few good cars to go to, when you did not want just another European drone to look at every day.

Art buys every other generation of Mustang, not every generation. He'll be new Mustang shopping in 2020.

I like the looks of the new Mustang, and like the new direction for the most part though I will kinda miss the live rear axle I must admit. The text in the above pictures is too small for my crappy eyes to read, but I'm most interested in the weight, the car looks smaller, so I assume its significantly lighter? A light/cheap V8 is what I'm looking for, if that is what they are selling, I'm a fan, nothing else really matters so much.
