4-year olds develop at different rates, but this is for 3+ and was great fun for my son when he was 3-4.

We gave my 6-year old nephew this...yours may like it given all the cool pics and such

Thanks, the suggestions were great. I'm trying to pick between them...

The Jimmy Johnson car actually will move if you pull it back and let it go.

 As I stated at the beginning of my post--not every gift works for every kid. (edit: his nephew may be capable of woodworking kits, I don't know) Besides he's looking for a 4-year old--those gifts (and the sharp nails included) are for 5+ and most likely require adult supervision (ie, Dad goes and builds the model and lets kid play with it afterwards.) With that said, I had a great time building the derby car for my kids' Pinewood Derby!

My 4 year old really likes this one. I need to help him with some of the pieces, but we can spend an hour for each of the 3 vehicals. The nice part is that you get directions for 3 different things in the creator series.

Easy there gus, the :stick: me beating my kids, not you, I was just relating my experience. I wish it were a hit because I thought it was cool, it just wasn't for them :whoknows:

As for the woodworking kits, my 3 1/2 and 5 year olds had a blast hammering in the nails and they only hit me a couple of times with the hammer
