Note this year, the TRSS is 2 days. Please note which days you can instruct on (or both).

I will be signing up my youngest daughter for the April 20-21 weekend (one of the days). I will plan on instructing that day as well. Probably the 20th so I will note it that way on the doc.

bringing this back around again..... This is only about 4 weeks away, so spread to word....

I know Phil is looking for more instructors to help Sunday's students. Please sign up if you can help. If you don't see an instructor option in motorsportsreg, contact Phil and he can adjust. Don't sign up as a student.

I just wanted to say, "THANK YOU!!!" to all of the fellow THSCC'ers that helped with the Teen Survival Clinic this weekend. Thank you to Mike Whitney and the crew that setup the course, thank you to the station workers and cone chasers, thank you to the instructors, thank you to the volunteers that helped run the event, and than you to Denis and Phil.

I instructed my youngest daughter in our (her) Miata as well as a young man in a Toyota Tundra on Saturday. Great time by both of them and I think/hope they learned a lot. When I asked my daughter her favorite part, she started going through the course map and pointing out what she liked about each one. Then she simply said, "I guess I liked it all!"

Well done event! I am thankful to be able to help out, and I hope that some of what my students learned (preferably the correct stuff) sticks with them! When we started out, the guys I instructed didn't know how to check tire pressures or examine the engine bay for basic safety stuff...no slight to them, as I suspect the majority don't know the basics anymore. At least now they know a lot more than the average driver!

Thanks again for getting THSCC involved! I hope my schedule clears up so I can help with the October event as well.

Saw a short shot of this event on Channel 11 6pm news today- I was a bit traumatized by seeing a close-up of Rodney's face though...

I saw that as well. Not really sure what my ugly mug on the screen had ANYTHING to do w/ teen driving, think they should have shown students on course. The only thing I can think of is I was staged to be the lead car for the tailgating exercise, but a string of students wanted to the do the lane change, so the camera guy left.

I'd like to give kudos to everyone that helped out for this event. Sat weather was a bit chilly, but from the afternoon on it was a great weekend to be outside helping young drivers. Great showing from THSCC, Heart of Carolina mustang and the bimmer guys. Graduated 57 students and I think they ALL had a great time. Great course set up by Mike, we had lots of different elements to throw at the drivers.

We'll be doing this again in Oct, so stay tuned for time and dates. I think we'll be doing a 2 day format again.

Steve,

Was that your S2000 running the course Saturday at lunch time? If so, the car looks like it has a great setup.

Thanks! Yes, that was mine...I think the shocks could've been set to a less firm setting (both compression and rebound), as the surface has a little undulation to it, but it felt very good. I was thankful to have a 30-minute session to do the slaloms and sweepers--can't turn down free practice for looking ahead and timing of steering inputs!

The wet skidpad was interesting. I generally suck at drifting, and could only manage oversteer when the car was in VTEC in first gear (yes, with VSA off)--even then it was pretty easy to correct. I only spun it once, and that was intentional. The car favors understeer in the wet, which correlates with my front:rear roll stiffness.

Rodney looked very sharp in the drift-o-matic Bullitt, however...remind me again why he wanted to sell it????

My car is famous! But once again I don't get any facetime. :( The editor must have liked Rodney because they showed him twice.
