I need to tell my kids something to get me for Christmas. What's the latest?

Not exactly an answer to your question, but ...

http://www.meritline.com/high-power-ult ... 74285.aspx

I have about 4 of these floating around the garage and it's all I ever use now. No more worklights. These use 1 AA and I keep 4 of them on a Lacrosse charger at all times. When they get dim I just swap batteries. These 1 AA headlamps are not as bright as others but its plenty for just about any work I do.

+1 x 10 for LED head lamps. My work horse is the Eveready Industrial 6 LED unit with 3 AAA cells. 2 lamps are spot, 2 lamps are wide angle (which I find less useful) and 2 are red (in case I need to preserve my night vision or go hunting early in the morning).

I just researched the light output (since I've had this for a while) and discovered that the output on white light is only 36 Lumens and that Cree model is 110 Lumens....now I need to make another list for Santa.

How about some of those as Christmas party raffle prizes.

Add this to your xmas list. It's one of the few good chargers on the market which will trickle charge (and restore!) batteries on the charger, which means they can be left plugged in all the time. Just a single AA (most are 3xAAA) + ready charged batteries makes it really convenient.

Cree LED's are amazing! And a local business to the Durham area so why not support it...

That charger works well and I also recommend pre-charged nimh batteries. They will hold a charge for over a year compared to traditional nimh cells. I have a box full of them at home that are charged up for the kids to use.

Off to order some headlamps for santa to bring me.

Great info on batteries and chargers. I put them on my wish list. I also have some C and D battery adapters on my list for my sons toys. I vowed never to buy a toy that took C's or D's, but that does not stop others from giving them to him.

I have an REI light that is probably more pricy than it needs to be. I also have a bunch of these I keep around the house for power outages and general work in the garage. The have a magnet on the back that helps.

I also use a light that plugs into my Dewalt batteries. It's been very useful.
