Bahhh, its not like any of us have a 100% prepped car. My car was way more fun than I thought it would be on just Star Specs + big ass rear sway bar.

Not sure how many events I will make next year but the Fit will be STF-light with 17x7.5 wheels and a rear sway bar.

Keith,

I just posted in an STF thread on roadraceautox that the best autocross use for a Fit, other than using the engine in an FF, is to tow a KM like you do . . .

Seems like STF is a waste of your reaction times unless you take a nap between each "driver input".
Even CM would be a snooze for you.

Rodney, if you want to autocross and you want to do so cheaply, have you thought about not autocrossing your Mazda at all? Maybe you can find a codrive with somebody. Split costs and maintenance work, and you don't have to do anything to your 3 except drive it to work.

Interesting thought, but there are so few cars I fit in headroom wise. I knew I had to buy struts and tires for the car, so considering my sunk costs, I'm spending very little on the car and I can tune it to my driving style.

The cartridge vs spin-on oil filter tangent has been interesting to read, because I've never dealt with a cartridge type. For the longest time, I thought all oil filters were spin on filters, painted white, with "Motorcraft FL-1A Long Life Oil Filter" printed on the side. Who knew there was a need for anything else?

I'm guessing the previous owner got tired of removing the splash guard.

I did that exact same thing to my Mazda3 when I still had it. Did you buy my car?

Changing the oil never gave me a problem- I didn't have to use tools to take the canister off or put it on- you do NOT want to strip the plastic threads on it. As long as you replace the o-rings every time, it shouldn't leak.
