So, the ride went to the top of the mountain, it was like a train ride on rails. Got up there and got off to walk around the amusement park. Then saw that there was another ride that was like a roller coaster, it went almost straight down into the mountain. The drop off was only 15 degrees off vertical (yes, I remember the numbers from the dream) and it plunged directly into the earth. It was $5.75 per person per ticket, which was a little pricey, so I was waffling about going.

So I decide to get in line. I realize that I don't have any clothes, so I grab a blanket and wrap it around my waist. My father and brother are already on the ride. When I'm only one person away from the ticket counter, they stop selling tickets. Sales stopped at five o'clock. Crap. So, I figure I'll walk around the Christmas village while I wait.

I'm walking around these HUGE rooms with giant Christmas trees, mostly empty because it's almost closing. Then I remember that I'm actually wearing shorts, so I don't need the blanket. I toss it off to the side near the entrance and walk through more of the exhibit.

Time to go, and as I'm leaving, I think someone has found my blanket and is giving it away to somebody else, but they're actually only giving away a velour sportscoat, and my blanket is where I left it.

Head outside, and it's time to load up the rally cars, because the rally is over. We're going to take Seamus Burke's car down to the bottom of the mountain for him on our trailer for some reason.

So I go and get Vantro, but I'm having trouble starting him. I have to push the clutch all the way in (on this van with an automatic transmission) before the starter will actually catch. And there's a little spark when it does start.

I back up the van, but it stalls. I start it again, but the spark starts a small fire, like, match stick size. I try to blow it out, but it's only spreading. It's not turning into a big fire, but spreading out along the wires. I apparently have a bling-bling chrome mini fire extinguisher on the dash, so I use that and put the fire out, and shut off the car.

But now I'm sliding backward, and I can't stop! I've slid across the whole service area, and down into the streets of the town. Sliding backward WITH the trailer! I can't start the engine up, because I'll have another electrical fire!

The van slides a little to one side, and AH HAA! I take my opportunity! I do a bootlegger's reverse slide, with the whole van AND trailer, and now I'm pointed downhill, still sliding! I've gone through all the intersections of town now, and I'm on the outskirts, going down the mountainous hillside roads! And they are STEEP!!! And I have no brakes, in the van, withe the trailer, and it's icy and snowy! I'm watching the curves, trying to straighten them out and not crash!

I see that on the right side, there's actually a little grass poking through the snow, so I get over there and grab the brake controller and mash the trailer brakes, hoping to slow down using the trailer tires in some grass or mud on the side of the road. It helps a little, but I'm doing about 60 mph down this steep hill, with no seat belt, and all I can think of is "Will I go through the windshield? Is it worth the danger of actually getting all the way over into the driver's seat?" (Because I was putting out the fire from the middle of the van.)

And now a steep S curve through a field, and then I can see the road goes into the woods...

Carl sent me this ending to the dream:

Unfortunately, in the same way as there was
no real beginning, there is no ending. That's
all that happened. I must have woken up then. :)

Oh c'mon, Anders- you can't do that to us! :-)

OK, here's your ending: The S-turn is coming up, with the trees and all, and you suddenly decide to try roll-starting Vantro to regain speed control. So you pop the clutch (in your automatic), the engine starts, and your brakes come back. You brake hard, ditch-hook the first part of the turn, then mash on the gas. Vantro and trailer and come out of the S-turn in an 8-wheel drift, safe and sound! As you roll up to the FTC, Amy (who has appeared in the right seat) pulls out your timecard and hands it to the worker. She says you had a fast time, and you decide to wait a minute for Drislane to arrive so you can compare times. 90 seconds later and he still hasn't shown up, so you pull out, knowing that you've won the event! High fives to the crew and trusty Vantro for coming through when it counted!

The End.

Anders,
You need to stop growing your own mushrooms.
