I was working on an e60 today and when I looked up I saw this.

If you can't tell the garage door opener has a label that reads "GARAGE DOOR" the only explanation I can come up with is VK must have finally come to his senses and bought a BMW.

Good thing its labeled too, however would one know that that is the garage door opener otherwise? I'd hate to confuse it with the machine gun actuator, that could make a mess.

He had to label it because the other remote is the one he uses to open his wallet at the BMW dealer where Sean works.

nice try but the car is under warranty and still has maintenance so the only time he has to open his wallet is when he needs tires.

Ask him where the dipstick is and then have him pull down the vanity mirror and show it to him.

What's more entertaining is that there is a built in garage door opener in those cars.

Of course, my TSX has one, but I don't use it either.

Any new BMW is going to have the newer higher security opener built in (unless you can still order the older style). The button shown is definitely the older style. So it's probably that his car has the updated Homelink that doesn't speak the old protocol and thus he needs the remote.

I know in E46 timeframe you could order either one, and if you retro you have to get the right one for your garage door system. Hmm, James, the one in the ZHP you bought is the old style, in case you care. :)

The old style remotes have the ivory button. Remotes with black buttons are for the newer system.

I have a 2 year old opener and remotes with black buttons and the ZHP has homelink which I've programed to my opener (rolling code). I have no idea what you are saying Donnie :).
