Moral of the story: Don't setup an autocross course in close proximity to all those trees. I can't see our club ever using a site like that.

Old parking lots are disappearing. New lots are all built with trees planted in them. In the future THSCC may have no choice but to use a site like that. At least it looks like they found the problem during setup (there were no corner workers to be seen), before they opened the course.

Yes, I'm well aware, as I design new parking lots almost daily. Reduction of impervious areas is a high priority. However (at least in Wilson) planted areas are required to be protected, not just open like this in the video. 99% of the time, 6" curbing is used. Not that you'd want to slam into a 6" curb, but it's not exactly apples-to-apples comparison.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

This is what he should be doing. at least this way it would be purposefully sideways. Instead of drifting and spinning like a amateur.

I am certain he would be in novice class for a long time after that one.

Come to think of it. I think rallycrossing a old mustang v8 with a locked rear would be a lot of fun. It would be like a old dirt tracker... Which i watch alot of, lucas oil late model dirt track series. v8 tube frame, fiberglass body, powerglide 2 speed, wide tires, sideways. i would run a locker in the rear, like a drag locker. Since it would never see asphalt, it would be fine. And just throw that thing around like a short tracker... That would be alot of fun actually. maybe talk my father, or if i get a good job again. save up and buy a older mustang.. and rallycross it. big carb, locked rear end. open headers, dirt tires. that would be a absolute riot on the gravel of wilson!
