Thanks for all the warm thoughts and offers to help, etc!

Seriously though, this THSCC car crashing needs to end
+1000 Never been in an accident before and I don't want to ever do it again. Glad the car had airbags and the barrier had the crush zone on the end of it. 20 or 30 years ago this accident probably would have killed or at least seriously injured me.

So, since the cop was the distraction, how does that come into play from an insurance standpoint? At least the cop was there to help you out, or at least I assume he helped you.
Not sure how it impacts insurance, etc. He didn't give me a ticket. I'm guessing, that in the end I'm still responsible for not running my car into things no matter whats going on outside the car. The cop did help out and was pretty decent about it.

Thanks again everyone. Keep it safe out there!

Shawn's insurance agent, who out of modesty will remain nameless, provided him with a policy that truly provides First Accident Forgiveness. So he is golden.

I got the news yesterday morning from the field adjuster that the car is a total loss. Got a call from the total loss settlement person yesterday afternoon with the details of the settlement. He was going to mail the 80% check to me along with a power of attorney for us to sign. I ended going by his office to pick up the check which expedited things a bit. Going to run back by his office this morning with the wife to sign the power of attorney and pick up the 2nd check.

I have to say I've been very pleased with Erie insurance throughout this process. I thought the valuation they gave for the Honda was more than fair, and every person I've dealt with has been helpful and professional. I know this was probably a simple claim for them since no one else was involved in the accident but I've been pleasantly surprised how easy everything went.

If you think this is a recommendation for Erie and Cline Hall Agency it certainly is. If your with someone else I'd suggest you talk to Cline and get a quote. He may save you some money and Erie seems like a class act from my experience.

Shawn, glad to hear it went as well as you could hope for.

Cline, when the hell are you getting your license in VA so I can come back to you?
