For you F1 fans (or fans of racing movies that doesn’t suck), Ron Howard has been working (currently filming in Europe) a F1 movie about the 1976 F1 season. This is to focus on the battle between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The 1976 season was full of drama. Hunt was the prototypical playboy racer. Lauda had his fiery crash at the Nurburgring that disfigured his face and nearly killed him. There was plenty of typical F1 politics. Concerns about driver safety. And lastly, the fact that Hunt beat Lauda by one point at the last race.

Word is that this is to be the F1 version of Howard’s Apollo 13. Howard has been tweeting details of the shoots with lots and lots of on-set photos. F1 fans have been salivating like crazy. Expectations are high and hopefully it will be good.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Cline,

I was 100% anti-Twitter until about a year ago. There is clearly the "I just brushed my teeth" crowd, and I initially thought that was all that Twitter was about. And early on, I think it was. But then I started to realize that there are people on Twitter that I actually enjoy listening to what they say. I have yet to "tweet", but I do have an account and follow a handful of people and organizations.

What is interesting about reading Ron Howards tweets is that they had planned to film at Snetterton in UK yesterday, but due to the rain, they apparently adjusted plans and decided to film in the rain, but use Snetterton as Fuji (Fuji was rain race in 76). They have filmed at a number of circuits including the Nurburgring. There are some photos earlier on (as well as on YouTube) of the Lauda crash scene.
