With all the talk of karting in the meeting location thread, just thought I'd ask if anyone has been to Rush Hour and tried the new karts. Judi and I were out there last Friday and had a blast, but I didn't really notice them being any faster. I think I was within a few tenths of my fastest time in the old karts. They were a little bit easier to get in/out of though.

hmm.

now is the best time to drive them, or else they'll get beat to shit and end up like a handful of the old karts they had.

i was planning on going yesterday to try them.

Just realized this should probably be in the lounge. Feel free to move it.

these karts are def. different. in a better way.

there is a lot of wheel hop compared to the older ones (but that was easily fixed). they are better because they are all the same speed. the older ones were hit or miss. i like these a lot better. I went with ray a week or so ago. took me 2 races to finally figure these suckers out. not as comfortable as the older ones. but it'll do

my quickest lap.

and someone hitting the wall. hah

def. want/need to go back to try and get into the 29's

we drove the new karts a couple weeks ago. More wheel hop and plows like a dump truck. Drove good when I moved the seat forward but the lock would not hold the seat and it slides back (and your belts come loose). I liked sliding the old karts instead of the tooth loosening hop.

We've been twice now with the new carts. First time the wheel hop wasn't noticeable. Second time (about a week and a half ago), lots of wheel hop though. I found myself lifting a lot more than normally needed to combat it.

Normally only for the back corner, but I did find it helped with the wheel hop last time.

Tell the guys to soften the kart's chassis setup. When a kart gets too much grip for the chassis to handle it starts to hop. This is most likely a result of the amount of rubber laid down on that track. Though somehow I doubt you will be able to get the guys to change the kart setup if they even know how to.

Yeah, the hopping about in the new karts really sucks but they are faster at least, I was about a second on average faster than I was in the old karts. I'd think they would be even faster if they could get rid of the wheel hop.

I went Friday afternoon. They did hop around quite a bit during the fast right hand 180 degree sweeper opposite the pits, but the thing I don't like about the karts is having to reach so far forward for the steering wheel. Later that night, my neck and shoulders were incredibly sore.... Starting to wonder if the 3/24 NASA kart race at VIR is such a good idea.

leaning forward helps a lot. or at least trying to set your position towards the front of the kart. i dropped more than half a second by doing that.

there was a guy hitting 29.0 on youtube with these new karts. unfortunately you cant really see seat position with the go pro cams. but if you see his videos of the back corner, its very smooth. not sure if he lifts of not, i havnt watched it with sound yet.

a critical turn (other than that back corner) is the first left then right turn after the start. ive seen many of seconds (or at least fractions of sec) drop by trying a different line there.
