I knew he wasnt happy with the Magnum.
That's actually not true, I really like that car for what it is, great car for long road trips. Its A LOT more fun to drive than one might imagine. The German's got the suspension design right on that car and the HEMI rulez, gas mileage kinda sucks though. Don't be surprised if I end up with another one some day.
So yes, I bought a Mustang. '02 GT convertible, 88K miles, mineral grey w/ tan interior. I guess I was supposed to have a 35 page thread on here about it before buying, so I have broken protocol, sorry. As Vincent stated, this car is not likely to see any autocross action unless both the Vette and the Miata are broken, its just a daily driver/road trip car. I've been daily driving the Miata now primarily for many many years and I am just getting to old to cram myself into the thing every day I think, I also don't feel very safe driving it in I40 traffic. Daily driving the Magnum is expensive in more ways than one, its gas mileage sucks, and its a very clean low mileage car that is still worth something and daily driving it really kills that. I really wanted something a bit more refined and comfortable than the Miata that is still a convertible for daily driving that isn't terribly expensive to buy/maintain/run. I considered other cars, but there aren't many cars that fit that bill. S2Ks are awesome, but don't buy me much in the comfort department, besides, everyone and their brother has bought one in the THSCC recently. If this car was intended to be an autocrosser an S2K would have made much more sense, but I will hopefully have the Vette for that and the Miata as a backup. The German alternatives fail on the inexpensive to maintain front though I'm sure some people will argue against that. In the end, I really just like the sound of a V8 and 300ft-lbs of torque, even if it isn't the most refined machine in the world. I'd love to have an S197 Mustang convertible, but they are still out of the price range I was looking for. As has been stated, I have previously owned and daily driven an SN95 Mustang and enjoyed it very much. I hate to get rid of the Magnum, but doing so will once again eliminate car payments from my life and insuring 4 cars for one person is expensive and a bit excessive.
