I called VIR and they are offering a 10% discount for a bulk purchase of 10 or more tickets. That makes them $81 for the 4-day pass instead of $90. Not a huge discount but hey, better than nothing. I will be making a group order and will be happy to order tickets for club members too. If you would like me to get you a ticket, post or email me and I will get the order in this week, then bring money to me at this month's club meeting.

Who's in? :sing:

As with anything, whoever organizes a group buy gets stuck doing extra work! :) So....

Any idea what the cut off on "kids get in free?" I ask because my nine year old son will be joining me. I have looked and can't find info on kids anywhere. :stick: I think it' not uncommon for a "12 and under gets in free with paying adult" type of thing, but considering VIR is charging a huge amount for this race (compared to other events) they may be greedy and looking to rob little kids piggy banks as well. In short, if he can get in free, I will take on for myself. If they charge for kids, I will suck it up and pay for him as well. :banghead:

Also you mention the 4-day pass. I am interested in Saturday only. So I don't know if that would work out with your bulk purchase or not.

I also read somewhere that there is no paddock access as well (another reason to think the tickets are overpriced). As much as the ticket prices bugs me, I am going to support ALMS even if I would otherwise tell VIR to stuff their high ticket prices. For example, there is no way in hell, I would pay this much for the Grand-Am race.

Not sure, but I will ask when I call back to place the order.

The 1-day Saturday pass is regularly $80 compared to $90 for the 4-day, so even if we could get the discount on top of that it would only be $9 more for the 4-day pass ($72 vs $81). If they won't allow mix-and-match and we don't get enough single day passes, you'll be stuck buying your own ticket for $80 to save $1. ;-)

I will be ordering the tickets tomorrow if I can get enough people. I am at about 5-6 right now, and those are all from people I know personally outside the club. Not a single person has contacted me through the club for a ticket...

Let me know soon if you want one!

EDIT: Hmmm, they're now showing Friday/Saturday ticket packages available for $80, and Saturday-only for $70 (previously the only choices were 4-day $90 or Saturday $80). If we could get the 10% group discount on top of those prices, that might be better (I was planning on going only Friday & Saturday most likely anyway). Thoughts?

Sorry Zach, maybe I wasn't clear enough earlier. :)

I think what is not helping you is that I am interested in Saturday only. If my son can't get in (9 years old) for free, then I would take a ticket for him as well. My guess is that he gets in free. If you plan to do four day or Friday/Saturday tickets only and you can beat or equal the Saturday only price I am in. If are not able to make your minimum of ten and including me will allow this to happen, you can include me, but someone would need to cover the extra few buck (in short, as it is overpriced as it is, I don't want to pay more than the current $70 Saturday only price as I am only going to attend on Saturday). I hope that makes sense.

The better deal for someone wanting to go Saturday only will come down to the $6.40 per ticket "Conv. Fee/ Ticket Fee" they're charging on the website and whether or not we get charged this when ordering as a group.

I've decided I am going to hold off ordering for now due to the lack of response and make an announcement at the meeting tomorrow and go from there.

There will be no additional fees with the group ticket price, so a Friday/Saturday ticket will be $72 ($80 - 10%). This is cheaper than a Saturday-only ticket ordered through the website ($76.40 with fee).

Also I confirmed with VIR ticket office that children 12 and under get in free with a paying adult.

I'll be taking the final count at the meeting tonight and placing the order after. :sing:

Thanks for putting in the time on this. Put me down for one ticket for myself. I will not be at the meeting tonight. If you get enough takers and pull the trigger on this just let me know. I can mail you some cash, check, money order, or PayPal you. Whatever works best for you.

I did make the minimum with a few people who joined the group buy at the meeting last night. I'll add your name down for 1 ticket too, Richard.

I dunno dude, you'll have to ask VIR about that one. :-P I heard rumors about no paddock access too, but not anything official.

I would not be surprised to find no paddock access, but I hope they don't do that. I was at Petit LeMans a few years ago and the ability to walk around the Paddock was great. Garages and hot pit required special access, but otherwise I think you could go anywhere. You could get right up close to the cars. Additionally they had a spectator session that allowed people to get onto the starting grid when all of the cars were lined up (about 15 minutes prior to start of race). There was also a decent sized vendor/sponsor area. Petit LeMons was a great event for me from a spectator perspective.

I wonder how VIR would make it work if they did try to restrict access. I am assuming that they will still want to allow access to concession area, podium and turn 3,4,5 and Hog Pen viewing areas. I can see them trying to rope off much of the paddock/parking, covered garages and false grid area. That defines a pretty large area that doesn't have any type of existing fencing. So unless they put up temporary fencing or position a lot of staff, I see people trying to get in and walk around.

Richard

PS: Zach, just let me know how you want me to get payment to you.

Tickets have been purchased!!! And I have been charged $1,152 on my credit card! O_O

We each saved $15.10 per ticket with the 10% discount and not having to pay eTix fees.

Details were sent for payment info to everyone who got in on the order. If you didn't receive an email from me, please email or PM me.

Thanks and see everyone @ VIR (if not sooner)!
