Oregon Region announces a new class in 2012, IT-J. This class is intended to make a spot for Chump- and Lemons-prepared cars to run in Oregon Region Regional races. Chump/Lemons car prep rules are the basis of car preparation, but cars must meet SCCA safety rules for IT car preparation, and driver's gear needs to meet current SCCA General Competition Rules.

Oregon plans to offer several Time Trials sessions during the course of the year for IT-J cars (no SCCA license required for TT). And IT-J cars will be eligible to run in all Oregon Region regional events if the driver does have an SCCA-approved competition license or novice permit.

best piss'n contest i've seen in a long time.

Not sure what you mean by piss'n contest, but I think the "mainstream" racing folks have really taken notice of the popularity of Chump + Lemons.

Everywhere you look, if it's about cars, it'll have some mention of Chump and/or LeMons sooner or later.

ha but you aren't reading the reactions on the CCWS or LeMons forums are you Bret?

keep in mind what you said to me about 10PM at VIR. "real racers" appear to be trying to capitalize and absorb the new found style of racing. seems a lot of their business has moved to other forms of entertainment.

i doubt this will have much effect for us locally but California and the Midwest could see some turbulence.

Wow, and it only took them 3 years to notice!

I think they should have three classes for the Chump/LeMons cars:

IT-J/U/T

The new classes could affectionately be called "Ijit" to describe the racers.
