S2000, of course. I've been reading about them on the Internet, and I know I want the AP1 if I get one, but I have some questions for the dozens of owners in here. So let's get started...

What year do you have, and why did you choose it?
What class are you running now/planning to run next year?
What have you modified and how did that work out for you?
What wheels/tires are you using, and do you have any wear issues (or other issues)?
Are there any years you would avoid, and why?
What issues should I look out for, and what should I expect to replace soon and/or often?
Are you daily driving yours? What sort of comfort/convenience items should I look for?
What kind of gas mileage do you get?
How expensive is insurance?
Is the plastic rear window going to be a problem, or no?
Seen any good ones lately?

Thanks!

Kevin, for the sake of humanity please reconsider, I'm pretty sure you buying something other than a Subaru would single-handedly bring about the apocalypse.

Find an AP1 with a replacement glass window top?

Hey, I saw an S2000 for sale at VIR Friday.. oh, it's a 2005, and you want an early one.

For anyone else's benefit - it was yellow, and here's what the for sale sign said.

2005 Honda S-2000 12,500 miles, other than battery showroom original, Garage Kept, new manuels (seller's misspelling, not mine), unused original key set, new condition. A classic Sports Car. KBB $22,265 Will Sale (again, seller's misspelling) for $21,000.. 434-250-9548

I took a few photos and can email them anyone interested.

I ain't believing this either Les. It has to be a joke. The next thing you know Rodney and Bret will both quit buying German cars, and Cline will not buy another Mini.

Man the signal to noise ratio around here is getting high...

What year do you have, and why did you choose it?
2004. Wanted an AP2 for more torques and other updates.

What class are you running now/planning to run next year?
I was planning to run in ST* (whatever it lands in) with just wider front wheels, just for fun, but haven't seemed to make it to an autocross since buying it.

What have you modified and how did that work out for you?
17x9's all around, works great (no competition experience yet).

What wheels/tires are you using, and do you have any wear issues (or other issues)?
TSW Nurburgring 17x9 with Star spec 245-40-17. Wears even on the street.

Are there any years you would avoid, and why?
I think 06 and newer got heavier. I like my 04.

What issues should I look out for, and what should I expect to replace soon and/or often?
Issues? Replacements? It's a Honda, why would you want to replace anything?

Are you daily driving yours? What sort of comfort/convenience items should I look for?
Semi-DD. Headrest speakers are nice. Honestly the car is somewhat frustrating to drive on the street. Since you have to beat the shit out of the car to have a lot of fun, it requires illegal-in-all-states speeds to get some slip. I like DDing the WRX a lot more since it slides around a LOT easier and the fat turbo torque curve is more satisfying stoplight-to-stoplight.

What kind of gas mileage do you get?
No idea.

How expensive is insurance?
Same as an M3 or 540. If you're on Erie you will get the "we normally don't insure this kind of car, but since you keep paying your bills on time we'll let this one slide"

Is the plastic rear window going to be a problem, or no?
I hate plastic windows.

Seen any good ones lately?
I've been monitoring prices and it's a terrible time to be shopping for an S2000 IMO. Prices for nice ones seem to be through the roof. I could sell mine for several thousand more than I bought it for 1.5 years ago.

Fixed that for you.

Nothing different about fitments between the AP1 and AP2, are there? Mind if I come by and take a look at yours? I've got to buy wheels/tires for mine and need to make a decision soon.

Affirmative. I tried to find an RX-8 that would work for me and was unsuccessful. Shinynewthingitis caught up with me and I jumped on a pretty clean AP1 I had been looking at.
