BTW,
How is the Celica? Is there going to be a lot of work?
Lot of work? Nah, lot of money? Maybe.
I've already ordered a replacement connecting rod and piston for #3 cylinder ($100 and $110 respectively), both should be here this week. Block will go to the machine shop this week as well, #3 cylinder is getting sleeved, and all 4 cylinders will get a final hone to equal bores. Machining cost will probably be under $200. I'll need new rings since the bores will be a hair bigger, that means another $200 or so, since I'll be "upgrading" to Total Seal rings.
Crankshaft appears to be just fine, not bent, all bearing journals look OK. I'll have the machine shop spin it to check the balance. Main bearings are all good (I wasn't circulating any big metal pieces in the oil system). Only the #3 rod bearing shows some slight polished surfaces due to the excessive interference. New set of rod bearings = $10.
Head is a total loss, and I don't feel like building a new one, I'm leaning towards this one:

LC is "the" shop for high performance old Toyota stuff. My head was basically a "cheap" version of a LC stage 2 head with a stage 3.5 camshaft. I haven't decided if I'll do a stage 3 or 4 cam.

We won't even talk about the price of a built head delivered to my door. I'm sure you can imagine (LC is to old Celica's as Rebello is to old Datsun's).
Add a full gasket set to the price list ($65).

Edit: If it doesn't self destruct, engine v 2.0 should make more power than v 1.0.
