Well, AFAIK the JCW moving from CS -> DS doesn't take place until 2012, so there will be plenty of time to get a front seat for the fireworks. Then again, maybe everyone will play nice given how the situation was settled for HS Minis and MSR MX5s...................riiiiiiight.

{Insert obligatory tip o the hat to Dick R and Keith} This is why Mod and kart classes are so appealing:
Step1 : Look at car. Got logbook? Check. Buy it. (Do karts even need logbooks?)
Step 2: Drive.
Step 3: profit.

So much easier than Stock, ST and SP-related drama. Steady Eddie...no real rule changes year in and year out.

Sorry to get off topic, Rodney! I look forward to seeing the new ride soon!

SM classes should get a little credit here as well, while there are some rules however most are pretty straight forward and the defining principle of SM was no "whiny protests". That is much of the reason I've run SM classes for most of my autocross career, I really hate rules and nit picking. I haven't read an SCCA rule book in ages. Oh, and PAX SUX.

No "take aways" or reclassing since I started running CM in 1992. A couple more preparation options that have little or no relevance to autox and now the Honda Fit engine option that also has little or no relevance autox (I hope).

The hardest part about CM is figuring out that the limit in a lane change is maybe 1.5 or 1.6g instead of the 1.3 to 1.4g that I drove.

Very Good 88 Van Diemen CM car for sale in PA. http://apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48671

You may have to be registered to see the pictures. It is blue and looks similar to my 85 VD. Somewhat more modern suspension than mine.

That's funny. Everyone should have one of those lights since it's true no matter what you drive....

For a BMW it needs at least 2 dollar signs ($$).

Nope, no logbooks for a kart. Rules do change some in F125 but really it is little stuff like in 2012 we are no longer F125 but KM (Kart Modified). They are playing around with the minimum weights for each engine package to hopefully offer a better balance for performance. Other than that fuel, tires and maintenance and you drive the thing.

The mini has arrived in Raleigh, got a call last night it was here. Carmax is doing a "safety" inspection and it should be ready for me to look at this afternoon. Hopefully the car presents well and we can call this a done deal. Post back later once I've had a chance to look at the car.

I do have to say that the folks at Carmax have been very nice and easy to deal with to date. No drama anywhere in this process so far.

That has been my experience with them as well. They even followed me home so I could get my old car that I wasn't trading in.

You do need to call them and ask them to not stick stickers on the car during their "safety inspection".

That's my experience with them as well...except the no-haggle pricing which is stupid and why I'll probably never buy a car there again.

In regard to the stickers, do like I did and offer them your $500 annual no haggle advertising fee. The stickers/license plate frame disappeared quickly.

Got a chance to see the car Friday after work. They had it up on the lift as I had requested so I could inspect the underside. No issues or leaks that I could see and the CV boots were in good shape. They lowered the car and I gave it quick once over and asked to drive it. They said no. As it turns out, there is one mis-matched wheel on the car and they wouldn't release the car for a test drive. They've ordered a new replacement wheel and that should be here and installed on Monday. Once that's done, they'll release to car drive and purchase.

Over all the car is in very good shape, just 2 very small dings by the gas filler cap. Guess it tagged w/ the nozzle. No dings or scratches that I could see and the inside was in good shape. Just a little TLC or Karls elbow grease and it will be good to go.

We'll see what happens on Monday.
