As prez of the club, there's always interesting emails to be read. This one caught my eye. Here's your chance to be on TV. Not sure how legit this is, but figured I'd post anyway.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hi Rodney,
We’re a TV production company in the Los Angeles area and we’ve got a show that we’re casting for in the outskirts of Columbia, SC. I’d like to see about how I can get this posted for your members to see, or if you know of anyone you can pass this along. Let me know if we can work together to find some drivers!
Thanks

Ad:
Casting young, enthusiast drivers who think they can beat our lovable rednecks in their lovable iron for a national TV show. We’re looking for tuners, European super cars and sports cars, (BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, etc…) and the owners as our drivers to go head-to-head with our rednecks on a track in the outskirts of Columbia, SC area. This is real racing for a $10,000 prize. Actual owners MUST be willing to race their car on the track. Please submit race experience, pictures of you and your car, and why you would be a perfect candidate to race our hillbillies. Shoot dates are Oct 18-20. Deadline for submissions is Sept 20. "Casting YOUNG, enthusiast drivers . . ."

Cash, plus it's looking for non-rednecks to compete, so you Mustang drivers are on the wrong side already :).

So Cash and I are DQ'ed for being old rednecks. And you don't have a sports car! Welcome to the sidelines :)

Cash owns a real sports car, but he decided to leave his at home this weekend in favor of a non-running substitute. :P

Too soon?

I basically own half of Ram's car from all the work I've done on it, so that should count :).

I didn't want to further embarrass the other Bullitt there since I was already passing him with the Mazda. You know how sensitive I am to other peoples feelings.

BTW, it looks like a head gasket on the Mazda - hopefully that is all.

I've been in contact w/ Cynthia and specifically asked about age. Says shes looking for younger drivers, 19-29, w/ foreign cars. I think that effectively removes a whole heap of folks from THSCC

as a side note, it is confirmed this will be held at CMP.

I think 19-29 pretty much excludes the majority of people with race prepared cars. Especially stuff that's late model. I'll act as a body double if someone older wants to drive. :) Must be short and skinny.

For those thinking about it, our CMP date is Oct 15-16, this is Oct 18-20. Which works out nicely.

Besides if redneck-on-redneck action is what you're looking for there is already a sanctioning body - NASCAR.

Also exactly how many 19-29 year olds do they expect to find driving "European super cars and sports cars, (BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, etc…)."? I guess they can ask their Dads if the can borrow the car for the weekend.
