LOL, I've had really good luck with Amsoil gear oil, it made a huge difference in the 2nd gear grinding in the DSMs.

So James, did you end up signing up? If not, I think I'm going to. It's $20/year, and with the savings per quart, I'd be even money on the eight (!!) quarts of oil the Merc takes.

Not yet, I just got a case of 12 of Amsoil MTF from a guy on a forum for about the cost of the preferred shopper discount....when I'm done breaking the SI in on conventional motor oil, I'll probably start buying amsoil by the case....at which point I'll bug Karl to place an order :). If I say, let's meet at the Federal for pickup, I doubt you'd complain ;).

If someone does become a dealer, I could use a couple quarts of this: http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=MTFQT-EA

I have 12 qts of that and paid $150 shipped. So if you want a few at $12.50 a qt then let me know. I think that's about 1.50/qt less than normal but still a hair more expensive than the wholesale price (including shipping and tax of course).

Your Honda actually takes the same stuff? As you can see from my link the retail price is $12.70, so your not saving me much other than shipping, bring two quarts to the meeting Wednesday and I'll have some $$ for you.

It's actually $32 to ship 2 qts, so I'm saving you $7 :). With the preferered pricing, 2 qts would be about $29.xx. Shipping is killer on small amounts. Shipping on cases is much better. Amsoil also charges state sales tax in all 50 states since there are 'dealers' in all 50 states.

I could probably be convinced. ;)

Amsoil's website says that, to order, you have to have been "referred" by someone. Is that right? Surely I can just buy something without having to be part of the cult...
