1) how heavy is the truck?

you have seen my truck Marty. 9K dry weight.

145K miles, 4 sets of tires.

Bridgestone Revos ..... never again

Michelin LTX M/S great tire for a 1/2 ton pick-up, not worth the money on a 1 ton especially if you put weight on the truck as they won't last past 30k miles or so.

the OEM tires actually lasted the longest for me. "something wilderness" i think they were called. BFGs probably.

my current tire is a Michelin LTX A/T i believe. they are probably a 40K tire but since the truck isn't a DD anymore they are actually earning their keep.

for the price a General Grabber is my next tire for this truck. i have a set that was on a 1/2 ton suburban and when i sold the suburban i swapped them onto a C1500 pick-up. they should last 60K and they are priced really well.

and also i got 60K out of two seperate sets on two different trucks out of some Pirrelli Scorpion ATRs. again 1/2 ton trucks.

i don't really believe there is a 40K tire out there for a DD 3/4 or 1 ton pick-up.

It's around 6500 lbs 3/4 ton F250 SD with the towing package and frame supports (to make it a one ton).

if it sits between tows and occasionally goes to Home Depot i would say a Michelin product or save $400 and try the General Grabber HTS tire. look at the weight specs for the E load tires and decide what works best. if you don't have 4WD you are mostly boned in wet grass no matter what tire you choose anyway.

BFG All Terrain is a good all-around tire, but on larger trucks the wear is increased a lot from what I've seen. For low noise versus excellent traction everywhere and nice stiff sidewalls they are great though. I put almost 40K miles on a used set I bought from a guy with a jeep, and I have 30K on the current set that I bought brand new, and you can't even tell they're worn. It's an F-150 but nearly half its life is spent hauling a 5000 lb loaded (or more) bumper pull trailer.
