So I was making a right off of 55 onto MLK in Durham after sitting in terrible traffic on Cornwallis forever (not sure why it was so backed up). I have to say I was impatient at this point so I want to get in the left lane quickly and be on my way but this stinking/smoking early 90s black Camry in front of me moves over into the left lane as I try to hustle my way by (Civic doesn't sound as mean as the WRX with no muffler did :) ). After doing so he/she proceeds to put put in the left lane....typical. We get to the point that there is a light that just turned green so a car in the left lane was just starting from a stop and the Camry moves over into the right lane just as I start. So soon as we pass the car in the left, I down shift and pass the camry into the left lane and I'm on my way. Might have been a slightly aggressive maneuver, but whatever, I was tired of going 10 mph under the speed limit. As I pass the Camry I note the absurd chrome rims and INSANELY dark tint....without a doubt illegal. So once I have open road, I slow it on down to about 50mph (45 zone). In my rearview the black camry starts hauling it up next to me out of the blue. I was looking forward but I could hear a window rolling down even through the wind noise and I hear a voice. I turn my head and it's a Durham cop in uniform driving this Camry and he tells me "I'd like you to slow down!!!".

It was scary but kind of comical at the same time ;). All I could think is WTF. I hope that is his undercover drug bust vehicle because that thing was a POS.

Sure it was a cop and not a security guard?

I live l a half mile from where it happened too.

Dick might be right, maybe it was a Southpoint security guard or a Duke security guard :).....when you are driving down the road and someone is yelling at you out their window, you don't look too intently with your eyes off the road :).

You should ask Liz about the time she pissed off the "cop" in the POS pickup on 64 bypass and 540. I was following her, and we were each driving an STi.

I assumed he was just some asshole redneck POS in an old POS truck, from the way he was driving (cutting people off, tailgating me, trying to race us).

My Oh No cop story.
I was coming back from Winston Salem on a holiday weekend Sunday night. I was mad at all the slow folks on I-40 through Burlington. So I was slicing and dicing through traffic in the ratty twice totaled Datsun 210. Some guy in a Caprice had crawled by me and blocked me into some slow traffic. I finally got by the caprice and was back to zipping through traffic. Every once in a while the caprice kept trying to catch me so I would cut through a hole and leave him stuck. This went on from Burlington until I-40 and I-85 split. Well about 6 miles down I-40 the caprice came hammering down the fast lane and then turned his grill lights on. So he pulled me over and was soon backed up by 4 other troopers. While he was running my tag and license the other troopers kept asking me how he had chased me for 35 miles in 'that car.' I just kept saying that I did not know who he was. I left with a ticket for 65 in a 55 zone.

When I was much younger A friend and I were going down a local highway at 2 AM in the morning at a dangerous rate of speed in a 1978 VW Scirroco. After we pull off the highway a short time later and laughing to ourselves about home much fun we were having while sitting a the light at the exit ramp a state trooper comes flying up behind us with light's a blazing. Of course we are now shaking in our boots. The officer comes up and tells us that we were obviously and proceeded to give us a long lecture about how we could have hurt ourselves, the people around us, and even if none of that happened we could go to jail. He then proceedes to tell us we are VERY lucky that his radar appears to be out and will only give me a ticket for minor wreckless driving (or something similar that cost me $50 bucks in court fines). The reason for his thoughts were his radar showed 132 MPH and there was no way a older VW could go that fast.

Had he know that the whole reason we were out was had finished the install of a Callaway Turbo kit on the car ealier that day and I wanted to see what it could do. I was actually kind of disapointed when I saw the radar screen, the speedo was buried way past the 120 MPH on it. I thought was were doing at least 145.
