It has come time for me to move on from my current company. As part of doing this, I wanted to reach out there to all of you IT and business owner folk to see whats out there in THSCC land.

In my last role, I severed as the primary managed security engineer for about 2 years. I have also been the primary point for maintaining our data center. Due to both of these roles, I have also picked up an ok to decent amount of knowledge with Firewalls, networking and Linux as well as several other skill sets that are not as developed. If anyone knows of any open positions or is currently hiring within your company, I can easily send you my resume to pass along.

I also plan on hitting the job hunting websites and CL as well as any other place I can find.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Carl,

I definitely plan on looking around the RTI website further. I have spent my time working for a small company were the servers don't break often, so I do not have a huge amount of sys-admin experience. I believe I could fulfill that roll, just not immediately with my current sys-admining experience.

When you write letters or your resume be sure to verify that you have used the correct words. There is at least one correctly spelled wrong word in both your first post and a different one in the post prior to mine. :D :)

If someone wanders into this thread with enterprise sysadmin experience or *SP/enterprise network experience I'm the Sr. Engineer for these two jobs. I think these might be a bit much for Jason, feel free to send me your resume though if you want me to look it over. Ideally I'm looking for someone who has run a medium to large network from the system or network side before.

Don't forget your cover letters. Very few people include them it seems and it really helps give insight into whether the person is a "sit in my box and do my job" kind of person or someone who has real passion for what they do. Also make sure your Google results for your name/e-mail address aren't horrific.

Dick,

Thanks for the advice. I do plan on making sure that my cover letters, emails and resume have been spell checked. Chrome apparently considers "whats" as correct, but your right I don't think it is. As far as my second post, its not so much a misspelling as a created word, which I knew I was doing when I made the second post.

maybe I should try applying for a copy editor at a news paper... I bet I would be super at that

Most if not all of your contractions don't have proper apostrophe usage. However, don't (do not :) ) use contractions on resumes/cover letters though :).

Jason,

Here are the two examples:

From the original post: severed as the primary (correct word is served)
From the other post: small company were the servers don't break often (correct word is where)
