The monster trailer needs new tires. All six are showing signs of dry rot and the right back tire went flat last week. I'm going to replace them all and get a couple of spare wheels & tires. Is there anything I need to know about getting tires for a big trailer?

A couple of years ago I did some research on trailer tires on some of the trailering sites (camping/towing) and found two brands routinely mentioned Goodyear Marathon and Carlisle. From what I read, the trailer tires are purpose designed for trailering and perform better than truck tires. I bought the Goodyear Marathon tires for my camping trailer and they tow just fine, but that is a single axle trailer. I'll be needing tires for my car trailer soon so I'll have to rethink the matter again. Tire Rack carries the Goodyear, so if you decide to go there remember to visit the THSCC website first and click the Tire Rack link (it may actually benefit the club).
Also, I have bought trailer tires from Agri Supply in Garner and been happy to get them mounted on site. http://www.agrisupply.com/st-r-tire-only-/p/36160/cn/5000000/

i've ordered from these guys a couple of times. http://www.tiresdirect.net/search.cfm

i have maxxis brand tires on my enclosed at the moment and they have worn well over the last two or so years.

i put Gladiator brand tires on the horse trailer. i am intrigued by these as they resemble semi trailer tires and the company actually makes tires for semi trucks and trailers.

but so far only a couple of hundred miles on the horse trailer so no long term feedback yet. the Gladiators are cheaper than most tires at the moment.

I need ten trailer tires and two spare wheels, ten Toyo's for the Spec3's and the dually is in need of some too. I know it's just another day for you, but that's a lot of rubber for me.

It's actually only eight trailer tires. Six and two spares.

I have the Carlisles on my enclosed and am pretty pleased. They were a lot cheaper than the Goodyears. When I had the open trailer, I took the advice from Just Tires and slapped SUV tires on it. That worked out perfectly.

One thing to remember, make sure you have high pressure valve stems on the rims. Trailer tires run at 60 psi and on little bump of normal rubber stems and you have a flat.
