I had a few minutes over the weekend to play around with some iRacing video editing... this video is NOT public, but I wanted to share.

This is from a hosted league race a few weeks ago... I run the "SIMR" series that is (for now) part of the Friendly Slow Racing league (FSR). Each Sunday we run endurance races at different tracks, using three different groups of cars. This one is the first of three weekends (spread out across the season) meant to break things up by running the C6R Corvette on ovals.

It was an 80 lap race, full course cautions were in effect... I had a setup that was really good in the turns, but I lost a few MPH on the straights... ANYWAY, it was a TON of fun, especially since I was in contention for the win... I'm the white/orange vette... enjoy!

(Oh yeah... the "www.SIMR.com" website listed at the end is NOT up yet)

(Oh yeah again... for some reason, I can't grab the sound direct from the sim, so I had to overlay music  )

I shoulda been able to set him up better... at @ 15 laps to go, we were chatting a bit and he told me "I'm gonna have to let you by soon anyway, my tires are about gone"... so I figured I'd save my tires and follow him for a while (rookie mistake!). Then there was a wreck that brought out the FCC @ 10 laps remaining... 5 laps worth of "clean up" set up the video. So I was stuck behind him at the restart, and did a poor restart at that (as you can see, fell to third.)

But even with those excuses, I had the corner speed & handling, I should have been able to set up my corner exit to get around him... and you can kinda see where I tried it on that last corner (laid back a hair to try and get a run on him)... but trying the outside line may have been my mistake.

I'm setup with iRacing now and so far I am loving it!!

The basic Fanatec wheel is pretty nice and takes a little time to get familiar with it. Spent some time making laps to get a hang of it. Going to work through the Rookie races this weekend hopefully!

Just as an update to anyone interested in iracing.

It is awesome!!! I am running about 2 races a week and it is incredible! Once you get out of the rookie races the sessions get much better. No more punts on turn 1. I had one really close 18 lap battles that was so intense!!

So far I have added a few more tracks to the list of ones to drive before I hang this up one day. Lime rock is crazy fast and fun. Mid ohio is swwwwweeeeet with all the transitions. VIR, heck I think I learned a few things that I would like to try in a real car now.

Scott... if you don't already have it, Spa is a must.

I ran the Skippy race there last night and I think it may be my favorite car/track combination at the moment.
