When I toasted the engine in the old car last fall it was evident that it wouldn't be repaired in time to get it's annual inspection. Since it was going to be off the road for a while I cancelled the insurance and turned in the plate.

Unfortunately, I did it in that order, insurance on October 7, plate on October 27...

Now I have a new plate and a $50 fine for letting the insurance "lapse" on a non-running vehicle.

Yeah, I can appeal, but that will be more than $50 worth of hassle.

here in md its 150 off the getgo and 7 a day after the 1st 30 days. and just got a notice that its now going to be 179 every 2 years for the tags for my tow vehicle. and 130 for each of our 3 cars.
