True story...

Two of my Dad's cousins a number of years ago were visiting their parents. They didn't live near each other and neither knew the other had just purchased a new car. Cousin #1 shows up at home with a new VW Fox. He was very proud and was showing off the car. A little later his brother showed up with a new Mercedes. :oops:

i don't get it....

so the guy who came home in the fox is supposed to be embarrassed because his brother bought a mercedes?

Yeah, that is how it happened. The Fox was being shown off as being "cool" or something. A great example of German engineering, etc. So in this case it was perceived that the Mercedes was better. Makes sense if you know that branch of my family.

Then again, I am not a huge Mercedes fan myself. Especially ones of that era. So maybe the Fox was the better car and/or deal for the money. :wink:
