Watching that show is like watching my kids play sports when they were little. So much potential but they just don't have any idea what to do. It is painful for me to watch. While Rutledge is the complete craftsman section at Sears, I assume they have writers to blame. "I want to lick it was painful" A simple do they take testicles on trade would have worked there (well you would have to have them so maybe not)
Actually I am afraid they are just letting Rutledge be Rutledge. I doubt the "lick" part was scripted. Or at least I hope it wasn't.
I think Foust is the best of the three, Ferrara is growing on me, but I will never be a Rutledge fan even if they portray him as the "village idiot" and make it a running gag. I hope he is replaced in season two.
What I am curious at this point is about their individual "automobile street cred". Foust clearly has it. As mentioned above, Rutledge doesn't exist in my world. I am more curious about Ferrara. Is he an enthusiast at all? I know it's just TV, but I would hope that the host are enthusiasts at some level.
Overall, the show is growing on me. It will always stand in the shadow of the original, but I am OK with that as long as they gel more as it goes. I get a kick out of how when we watch it the kids say "Where are the other guys? I like them better".
