As long as John Condren can resist the urge to add a chicane on the front straight it should be an awesome event.

Rest assured Team Magnum, PU will have more lighting this time. :D

Coming in late to the conversation... Grim Reaper Mustang was running in 5th when a fuel leak got us black flagged for repairs. We finished 16th. No other penalties or damage. We plan to try out a chump car race at vir. I personally like the whole Lemons format, like the diversity of skills, like the traffic and the craziness. Worried that 35 cars on the North course will be like a HPDE. Chump does seem to have an aweful lot of rules though. All we want to do is race and have a good time where ever the opportunity is available.

i don't think you have to worry about VIR-N being like a HPDE Mark. ya'll might need to tap into your collective dark-side however. things can get a little dicey at 2AM. it's kinda like the inmates running the asylum in the wee hours.

One of the Lemons galleries has been posted from the event. Take a look at it here.

There are good pics of the vehicles brought by the team Kevin was on. Kevin, you guys may have not had a good time on the track, but your themes rocked! I'm just sorry I didn't have time to see the Sanford and Son truck in person. That was a favorite show of mine and the play on it was awesome. Those special white-lettered tires were priceless.

I also loved the 'dive brake' brake-actuated trunk lid on the 'Skank Tank'. I would have hated to drive it and hear that thing slam up and down ten times per lap, but it was fun to watch!

VK,

I may be bringing the S&S Truck to our AV Tryptophan event. Dwight and Jim have both told me I could take it, so I just need to followup with them.

The "air brake" on the Skank Tank was great except for the lack of visibility going into a braking zone. I left the switch for it on for one entire hour of driving and I am suprised I did not burn up the air compressor mounted in the trunk to operate it. On the final cool down after the checkered flag for lunch on Sunday, I tapped the brake all the way around the track and through the pits to "wave" at the corner workers and spectators.

Cool. I may be there as well maybe you could let me take it for a spin? if so, I will HAVE to bring an MPS player, speakers, etc to blare the S&S theme!

LOL, that would be funny. If I bring it, I will be the only one driving it per the owners. HOWEVER, it was built for 2 seats and I would be wanted the second seat installed if I take it to the track.

I am on the fence about ever taking them up on their offer. It has a spool 9" rearend and is a handful in the braking zone, turn-in and track-out as the rearend locks, unlocks and relocks.

What was it built for specifically? It's not ideal for Lemons, but neither are the other cars you guys brought.

If you bring it I definitely want a ride!

It was built for Chump first and LeMons second and lapping days third. Just another "audacious" build to bring and have fun with and say, "Is that all the penalty laps you can give me? C'mon, you can do better than that. You know we just want to drive and entertain the corner workers and spectators!!!"

And although there are some nice parts on it, they truly ARE from customer leftovers at their shop and junkyard parts. The rearend is out of an asphalt circle track car and they took it because the axle tubes had already been cut and cambered. They had to recut the right side and flip it over to get negative versus the positive camber the roundy-rounds run on the right side.

Case in point on carbs.... a local "pharmacist" came in the other day and asked if they sold RED carbs to go on his mint cherry red 70 something convertible Pontiac something or another. They told the guy that they could order red metering blocks to go on both sides of the carb. He told them to order him a new Holley 750 and put red blocks on it and they could throw his currently functioning non-red carb in the trash. I did nto exactly believe them until I personally saw the car and the "pharmacist", complete with hip hop clothes and dreds. And the hat, don't forget the hat.

They fully understand that the value of that free carb is still "xxx" dollars because it truly is worth "xxx" dollars even if they got it free. They never argue that some of their cars are worth more than $500, it is just fun to them. Except the Escort and the Skank Tank. Both of those are truly stock junk cars.

I have already given my .02 worth on the rearend. It needs an LSD badly, but if you can drive with the tail out, it is fun!!!
