I have a co-worker with a Hyundai that is coming up on maintenance and is looking for a good mechanic. With as much popularity that Hyundai has recently I'm surprised I don't see any sepcialist shops. Anyone know of a good one? He is looking to break free from the dealership. Quick Google search returned nothing.

edit- Oh yeah, in the Raleigh-ish area

I thought you were just supposed to take them to the junkyard when they get out of the 100K mile warranty???

He has around 100k on it, and seems to be doing ok.

That's funny, that was the one name I passed back to him already. I wasn't sure if Rex would want to, so I told him to call and ask.

You know I'm just kidding.

I've used this place in Cary before to work on my Nissan and felt it was a positive experience. They don't specialize in Hyundai's though.

Actually if you can find a Mitsubishi mechanic they can usually handle Hyundais too. They share a lot of parts and platforms.

General stuff for now... Timing belt, etc...

I suppose he would like to find someone who is familiar with their stuff so if something major happened he would feel comfortable (transmission rebuild, etc, etc...)

Triangle Asian Imports... on 55 in Durham is another option. A young kid owns the place, seems to be fresh out of school, but very nice.
