Can anyone hook me up with a chemical order?

I am trying to order 500g or so of either DEHP or DINP vinyl plasticizer to try some experiments in softening stiffened vinyl. Apparently I can't just order a small bottle of this stuff myself.

Anyone work in a lab that could make an order for one of these 2? Should be $20 or so. I'd prefer DEHP and I understand there are safety concerns, but I don't plan to let children or pregnant women drink it!

Free bump with funny story...

I was probably in 5th or 6th grade when my best friend and I decided we wanted to make something that required some chemicals we didn't have. Somehow we figured out that pharmacies might stock these items. So we rode our bikes down to the local pharmacy and asks for our two missing ingredients... Salt Peter (Potassium Nitrate) and Sulfur.

We thought we were very sly when the Pharmacist looked at us with a grin on his face. You boys looking to make some gunpowder? We were shocked that someone could figure out our secret plan! He still sold us what we wanted. Our gunpowder worked, but not very well.

Funny story!

For the record, no I am not trying to make explosives, meth, or any other illicit/illegal substance

But if it works I'm gonna relabel it and market it! For anyone curious I found two other products I'm gonna try.

First is a polymer clay softener which only says it is a "phthalate free plasticizer" for PVC modeling clay

Next is a "Liquid Plastic Softener" for making soft plastic fishing lures which according to the manufacturer is Dioctyl adipate (DOA) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dioctyl_adipate) commonly used as a plasticizer in Saran Wrap out of PVC or PVdCl.

huh, chemical companies will not just sell their sh******t to anybody?

see, i knew our countries drug policies were way too restrictive. i can't find good dope no more. oh wait, that is the wife's fault.

Mike, have you tried to source your craving thru a tint company yet?

my second thought would be a carpet mill. i'm sure i have some seam sealer you could huff. :lol:
