I hate these little SOB's, F up my back yard constantly and I'm tired of it. How do you get rid of these bastards? I know one way is to kill the food source. That was a sad experiment. I put out some bug kill and all the sick/dying grubs came to the surface. Well then the birds flew in and had a hayday and then my yard is full of dead birds. Don't want to do that again.

PLEASE give me any remedy you've heard. I've tried a spring spike trap, but doesn't have enough power to launch the plunger down and kill. I've also heard gum will work. They chew the gum, but can swallow and then starve since they can't spit out the gum.

I'm desperate here.... These f'ing things gotta go.

My outdoor cats haul them and mice into the garage and drop them on my door step quite regularly.

Squirrels are kept at bay as well.

they are Voles, not Moles. i have a dog that snips them at the neck but anyway. dead birds on the lawn? sorry Rodney, that's funny stuff.

we tried some spikes that emit an electric pulse (tractor supply i think) when we first moved out here; but i think the cats are keeping the population at bay.

FYI, Dave has some very cool looking kittens fixin to come up for adoption. i'd grab two but the Boss said no.

one actually has a good sized Kubota orange dot on its forehead. 8)

That sounds like an excerpt from a Simpsons episode.

I've had to deal with moles too. The spike trap did not work for me. I ended up keeping the tunneling under a watchful eye and caught two of the bastards as they were tunneling. I <PETA edit> the little f &^%$ ers with garden tools. Actually, they were bigger than I thought. I was expecting vole sized creatures and was surprised to see something 4x as big.

I have had a terrible mole problem. I know an illegal way to get rid of them and will PM you. I tried everything from chewing gum to traps to repellents.
Nothing worked and they tore up my yard.

Before you create a superfund site get a couple cats. They will regularly bring you dead things. My cats used to like eating baby bunnies. Every month or so we would find the remains of a bunny on the portch. THey did not like eating the moles as much but they did like killing them.

let me nip this whole cat idea in the bud here. hate me if you like, but I DON"T LIKE CATS. There, I said it. Flame suit on.

I just tried some juicy fruit gum, so that experiment is under way. Actually thinking about running an extension cord to some metal rods set in the path of the tunnel. If I can do it with out burning down the house, I'm in good shape.

You don't to like them. They will be more than happy to live outside.

If I have a pet, I can't ignore it. Food, water, spading, vet bills...have enough of that w/ my dog. I'm just not a cat person.... BTW, the dog has gotten a few moles, but he's worse than the moles w/ the damn holes he digs.

hey, how 'bout I just randomly start shooting my shotgun into the ground, that has to work! OR, I just need a deep tine tiller and just start going over the tunnels. Now THERE"S an idea....

Peanut butter on a mouse trap. Place it next to their hole and put a bucket over the hole and the trap. The bucket keeps you from killing birds and other things, and it keeps it dark and quiet so they'll come up during the day. They've got great senses (other than sight) so it shouldn't take long to see some results.

Voles reproduce like mad and will keep coming over from the neighbors yards, so this is a long term - keep at it solution.

If they are actually moles (aka long tunnels which reappear if you crush them) I had success with a combination of the big spike trap and the "watch and stab them" approach. FYI if you have woods nearby the actual tunnel exits will be in the woods but the effective places to trap are in the grass areas. The "stab" approach was tricky since they are tough little guys. The trick was something big enough to not miss and small/sharp enough to actually get them before they moved.
