car guys defensive driving. Dad put me through it, my sister through it..
My sister can attest to it, saving her life on highway once. She was riding home from school, and a turtle had wandered onto the road.. the guy near her swerved, she swerved too. In order to avoid the other guy, she lost the car..(1990 ford taurus) the car went into the median.. her skills learned from the skid car training.. allowed her to keep control of the car.. and not wander over the line and crash. Our family believes in the safety courses there.I do it for the skid car, that is fun. 8) 8)

alright you hijacking Porsche-Haters, lets get back on topic. what is the age restriction on this event?

Per streetsurvival.org....

"What is the minimum and maximum age a student can be to participate in a Tire Rack Street Survival® school?
Licensed or permitted drivers, ages 16 to 21 are allowed in the program."

bogus, bogus, bogus, bogus..................

The State of North Carolina issues permits to 15 year olds that have successfully completed a Public / Private School Driver Education Course.

I am not sure what source of the confusion may be about this, but let me clear up some potential misconceptions highlighted by Steve:

Street survival allows licensed drivers only. As a private organization, we have no official or unofficial restrictions due to state government laws. This is not a "replacement" training program, but a completely voluntary addendum. Think of it as half-way between the near-useless mandatory education and HPDE and that's about right.

Side note -- Thank goodness for the USA where an independent org like BMWCCA can decide to do good on their own dime and risk and support an event like Street Survival without having to ask for government permission to do it. Let's keep that kind of freedom alive..

i'm still disappointed that she will be driving in three months but most likely will have to wait 15 months to take this course.

sounds like Spartanburg is my best alternative.

FYI I just heard that the tentative date is Oct 9. So that might work for you?

My quote is straight from the street survival site. Where did you read that it's licensed drivers only?

Will be the same for Olivier, he will do the driving school at his High School, he will do the theory in June and the practical later this summer. He will turn 16 next March.

Sorry, my bad. I was trying to point out that a 15 year old need not apply. Thanks for clarifying!
