Wow, my 08 GT weighs 3380. I guess they should drop a v8 in it to shed some pounds from that fatty.

Yep, I owned a '76 Mustang II Ghia back in the late 80's. With a little 171ci V6 and barely any weight, it was somewhat quick for what it was. Of course, that is quick up to 90mph and nothing after, LOL. (and I said "quick", I didn't say "fast")

I'd love to see Mustangs go back to the Fox body formula. Of course, all that extra chassis rigidity of the SN197 comes at a cost of weight and that is why the Fox and SN95 chassis' were like wet noodles without full length subframe connectors.

When the Fox body Mustangs debuted, the magazines said that it was actually lighter than the Mustang II. They may have been comparing a notchback '79 with a hatchback '78. In any event, the Mustang II was pretty porky for its size and era.

Expensive too. I recall standing in the showroom of Alexander Ford, wracking my 14-year old brain for a reason to like the abomination before me (a 1974 Mustang II notchback), and hearing my mother comment that it cost over $1000 per cylinder. $4000 would have bought you a 1973 Mach I.
